Mile Time Help

Can you guys give me some information or some things to do to help me with my mile time? I currently take about 10:30 to run a mile if I don't walk a lot. I need to run a mile in about 8:30. Any tips like what to eat, not to eat. What sized meals like rice with meat example like -> (some meat, little rice, something like that) or just small meals before a run or don't eat at all just drink water? What are some exercises / things that I can do to improve my mile time? Thanks.

Tips to build stamina/endurance? I prefer to sprint a little and jog most of the time.

Never walk as often, when I did a mile (wasn't timed) I only walked ONCE for about a minute. Also do it at you OWN pace. Do what most track stars do, use your toes, never put your whole on the ground it saves time and builds muscle faster. Near the end SPRINT like your being chased by a bear. Trust me, I ran two miles today during cross country practice and was still able to sprint at the end

Just practice running. Avoid eating excess junk food, although a little never hurt me.
Don't drown yourself with water; just have enough to stay hydrated and not die.
Perhaps do a warm up first, stretch, then practice your mile.

You have some pretty bad stamina. I guess just pace yourself more throughout the mile, then in the final stretch put in all you got and push yourself to run through how tired you are or may become. Also run more often to build up some stamina.

For starters, do not walk. If you feel too tired to keep running at the same pace, jog. Do not walk, but jog. That'll easily shave off about a whole minute.

My fast was like 6:54. You start by running hard, slow down in the mid, then finish by running hard. That's just my opinion. I'm not sure if it'll help you.

I have Cross-country in the mornings before school, all I can say is don't eat before a run, I usually just drink a glass of milk before school and that's all >.> Take a couple of sips of water if your mouth is dry, but you don't want to get waterlogged. I ran a 7:12 last time I checked, hopefully I'm faster now Anywho, it takes endurance really, just keep running you'll get better

drink lots of water hours before the run. NEVER drink water 10-15 minutes before running..you'll get cramps.

To get better at running, you run. Jog a little at a time, and you'll slowly improve. I'd say I can run my mile in about 5:50ish. My 5k is unfortunately like 20 minutes though.

The best way to get better at running is by actually running.

if you want to improve quickly, just run more often. fine a comfortable pace to run at. don't eat so much before running.
just running during the school year brought me from a 9:30 to a 7:00 mile

Lean protein.. to build muscle (like rotisorie chicken) and drink only water (0 calories that's why)..don't eat so much dairy products or foods with high sodium..that would make you bloat. Good luck.

Find a steady breathing pattern, that helped me a lot XD Also, make sure your running posture is right (idk how to say it, just some basic things my track coach said... I don't do track anymore but XD) @above omg you're so fast XD I only run like 8:40 D':
