Phantom

How are phantoms compared to dbs

So I have a level 170 Db that I love and have been playin for the past few years on and off. Maimed last year. Anyways I took like a half year hiatus and so I'm wondering how are phantoms? I mean I always loved both Db and phantom but I went with my Db because it was more funded. Anyways so I'm wondering if I should come back and what would be like a wiser choose to play? I love them both so much. My db bad about 55k buffed while my phant is 165 with less than 20k...most of my items from my db arnt tradable either. Soooo what do you guys recommend?
I have been struggling with this as well.. the thing is. Phantoms have a lower range output, compared to DB's. I love phantoms with all of my heart, they are so much fun to play and they are just all around amazing, the downside is they can get a little rough and rocky. DB's are powerhouses right off the bat, but are very difficult to fund. They also get rather dry in the higher levels. I'm planning on quitting my DB in an attempt to play the class I really enjoy, I hope you make an educated decision, and I hope it works out for you
This is how i felt and i honestly think the change is worth it. Phantoms are so much fun, especially when you see all those buffs you have <3

Going with a DB is a commitment.

Phantoms are pretty strong now, and a lot of fun to play.
If you love your Dual Blade just keep playing it, or else try out Phantom!

Not unlike a tick on the back of a great Lion. At least until RED.

DBs require SO MUCH funding, I had a 500k range clean at lvl 158 and I transferred to Xenon was able to achieve a 2m range. Unless you have unlimited funding I recommend you switch to phantom, as everyone as said they get buffed up in RED.

dbs need more funding, but if you really stick to it i find it worth it.

I too just got back from a 9 month break from maple. honestly, im still undecided if i really want to stay or not (I might since nexon was nice enough to give me 50k Nx to come back to, and really for where i left myself, i need 0k Nx so cool) and I'll say this right now, maple is not the same maple as when you stopped playing half a year ago. Now it is nicer in some aspects (largely focused on PQs and bosses to level up rather than grinding (still have the option of grinding, just at a greatly decreased exp rate) like old maple (really like that)) but that doesnt help that the classes are all OP as _____ compaired to older version of maple, thus making it instead of a fun community building event where you would meet and talk to people, now it is purely everyone could basically solo every pq, but they are forced to be with people.

If that doesnt deter you from playing again, then thats ur choice. as for characters, I've been playing both my DB and phantom since I came back. I prefer my phantom, the way I see it is

Phantoms - Not the strongest, but really fun with their versatility. If you are in it for fun and you really dont mind having lower than average damage, pick your phantom
Dual Blade - Very strong class. You can have high damage in both mobbing and 1v1 scenarios without needing much funding. If you dont mind having a set skill set to use, and are more in it for being the "best" rather than just playing the game pick your dual blade.

For me it was nice because I was the reverse of you, where my phantom has a 50k range buffed at lvl 140, and my DB has a 19k range buffed at lvl 156, so really my phantom was my strong character.

I think this saying may answer your doubts, "Once a DB, ALWAYS A DB."
Also "Once a DB, must stay a DB"

whichever class you found more fun would be a better choice to fund.
playstyle wise, db is a lot of jumping around and quick movement, but phantom is a lot of keydown skills and buffs.

You could have posted this on the thief forum, but decided to post this on the Phantom forum instead. Obviously you want to get answers from the Phantom players to play Phantom because you feel like it will be a better class in the future or you want a reason to go back to the class. You've probably heard about the RED update and how explorers are getting new skills. With the new skills Phantom can steal, you can double your range and get better DPS. I'd say go with Phantom and see how you like the class. If you enjoy both classes the same, make a list or think about the things that make you enjoy the class and figure out which class you will have a better experience playing with. If you want to, you could come back to MapleStory in a few months until RED comes out so you can make a decision during the updates and see for yourself.
EDIT: Dual Blades are a great class in my opinion as well. We don't know what gear you have and how funded you are (in terms of getting new equipment) so Dual Blade might be a better option depending on your situation.
