Elemental Staff only 200 better than Empress staff?
So I was checking up on Joetang's %/s mage charts and saw that there was only a 200% difference in dps when comparing a speed 4 staff
to a speed 2 staff. So what I'm getting at is, would an Empress staff (w/ full set) bet better than just an ele staff for bossing?

Remember : Always use super cubes. My runs with regular cubes were just horrible. Super cubes seems to be worth the 50% NX more.

How so?
If you have the funding to have an Ele 5-8 in the first place, an Empress set or whatnot (hopefully scrolled, at least for the staff), you're telling me you can't manage a few cubes to get some boss%?

I was referring to this table and so even then, a clean estaff 8 would beat an empress on [b]bosses[/b]?
@Mystelteinn: I guess the drain is one reason to keep the speed, but I honestly don't think I'm going to end up with any % boss on the staff, which drives me towards getting a full set.

Speed isn't only for the damage.
Faster speed means faster drain and faster monster cornering.
Thus, even if the DTM staff was slightly better (talking 2-5% DPM wise), i'd still get an Ele staff.
oops...been way too tired recently T_T considering Empress Staff is Slow speed, Estaves should always be better. not worth it to bring the speed up, either especially when EStaves just have much higher base

Not for any other mage except for F/P's explosion skill.
The speed difference matters a lot. I've compared both many times, and the only time the empress staff is worth it is If you have a bucc in your party with Si , and you're on body boost. Once body boost ends you'll notice a big decrease in your speed. Just keep your e staff. Empress is better for all mages except bams.

Now if we're talking about unlimited fundings ele staves will always be better than the dt staff with the full set (im assuming you'd do caps with finishing blow wearing an ele staff).
In my opinion you should get a pre scrolled/cubed ele staff, reason why? Scrolled unique/legendary empress staves are unexistant and not worth the mesos for the boost, you would have to either cube/scroll your own empress pieces as well. But if you decide to stick to an empress staff you could always get decent speed infusion and +1 attack speed on your inner abilities on the long run xD hope it helps[/quote]
Ahh I see. I could've been more specific though. Atm I currently AM equipped with the 4 piece empress with a clean ele staff 8. The thing is, I could sell that ele staff and a few other things to get to the 2b marker. From there I can see that buying a full piece empress would be pretty much the only option rather than getting an ele staff 230+ with boss% which may cost too much. The main thing I was wondering was if the speed difference didn't actually matter as much as people think.

She's talking about battle mages so scratch the element bonus.

depends on how each is scrolled. if matk with EStaff is (assuming 10% Element boost) 1.18x that of full Empress, then Estaff is better (assuming you have no other %Boss).
