Gonna buy new headphones

I'm not going for the looks this time. I need a pair of headphones with quality sound and good comfort. And I'm not gonna go for super heavy bass this time like I did back in the days.

My budget is below $400, and DEFINITELY below $500, and even that's too much for me. But still I'm willing to save up for it. I'm not gonna spend thousands for some crazy high-end master race headphones. I just need something that has noticeably better sound quality an comfort than the headphones that I already own. I currently own a MDR-V55. It's very portable so I usually wear it when I go grocery shopping or something something. I personally like the design much better than Beats or whatever. Just looking at those Beats headphones makes me wanna vomit. Hate the design. I know I'm weird.

I want one that's completely over the ears, and not a small round pair that's on the ears. I'd listen to it while sitting or taking a nap on my bean bag.

I'm thinking of buying the ATH-M50. And I've also heard good things about the MOMENTUM though some ppl say it has flat bass. I personally like bass a lot, though I'd prefer the original studio quality over nice bass any day. Anyone got better recommendations?

Oh, and I usually listen to stuff like hard/soft/pop rock, downtempo/IDM, video game OSTs, hip hop (mostly 80s~90s style), trance, jazz, chillout, trip-hop, dance pop, R&B/soul, classical, and world. Yeah, that's a lot.

I haven't looked into them much, but check out V-moda M100s... I have some M80s and don't mind them, I know the M100 is just an over-ear upgraded version.

Honestly I don't know much about headphones, I'm more of an IEM guy.

I actually cutrently use ATH-M50 headphones. They work great and I have had zero problems with them, so I'm gonna suggest those.

Once you try a good pair of headphones that are $100+, you'll change your opinion on spending that much cash on them.
Anyways, you should give the ATH-M50 a try. Tons of audiophiles say this is the best sub $200 headphone you can get.

Earpods are good enough for me.
I never liked the look of beats or any of those big headphones.

If I had $400 I'd get the HE-400. Not exactly a bass headphone, and then you'd need an amp to drive it.
