Does leaving your shop overnight use a lot of electricity?

So does leaving your computer on overnight and afk in the shop use a lot of power?

I have a desktop, but I have a laptop if recommended.

Any tips is appreciated.

Adding on to what lightxtc said above, think of it as leaving a 60 or 100 watt lightbulb on all night.

Also, be sure not to put the laptop into "sleep" or "hibernate" modes trying to save power because that will disconnect your computer from the Internet which will cause Maplestory to close and close your shop. Check the Power Options in the Windows control panel to make sure it's set to never sleep or hibernate so it doesn't shut down automatically after you leave it for a while.

Laptops consume much less power than desktops so I suggest leaving the store running on the laptop with lowest resolution and lowest graphics. Laptops can consume any where from 20 to 100 watts of electricity depending on screen size and computing load. Let's assume the laptop is running at an average of 60 watts and that your electricity cost is about $0.10 per kWh and you leave your store running for 8 hours at night. It will cost you $0.0480 per night, or $1.46 per month extra in electricity costs if you were to leave your store running 8 hours each night for a month. I honestly wouldn't worry too much about the power you're using with that store, unless you happen to live in an area where electricity is super expensive.

Turn off your laptop screen and it should use up less power and cost you even less.

There are tools to see how much wattage your computer is using. Use them while you only have a shop up, then find out how much your electric company charges per kilowatt hour (their website should tell you). From there just do some simple math.

It depends on your computer.

@Raiden: I have no idea how much it costs to run the computer all night because I don't know electricity rates. But probably it is closer to 3 or 4 cents a night. Basically nothing because computers really don't use that much electricity.

That's not terrible I guess.[/quote]
That's an...interesting way to put it.
