Should I declaw my cat
I have decided to have my cat declawed in the front. Despite literally trying everything to reduce his behavior to claw at the furniture and walls by trying to hit him every time he does it, I have come to the conclusion that this is the only solution. My only experience with declawing cats in the past is doing it with a kitten I found on the street, it never seemed to take an emotional toll on the cat. My cat is five years old so I'm concerned about the emotional toll it will have on him because he is older. My question is what can I expect from him after the surgery behavior wise and will there be any health risks I should be aware of? The vet has reassured me that the recovery process is rather quick and he should be back to his old self within a week or two but I thought it would be good to get information from others. Thanks!

@GoldenBow i hope you Get your nails ripped out of your fingers
and then dumped by your girlfriend
Never declaw your cats. It's completely unnecessary and causes them a lot of pain, even if the cat seems fine afterwards. Just buy a scratching mat or pole for him.
I'm pretty sure it hurts the cat physically and mentally to do so, so I wouldn't
As others said, get it like mittens or a scratching pole or something
should i de-fingernail you ^^?
I hate cats. It's so sggravating going to my girlfriends house and having her cats claw at my stuff. I'd have every cat declawed if I could.
Buy a scratching pole.

And why isnt' there a "NO" option in your poll...
It's so cruel though.
Poor kitty.
Give him to me. I'll give him a home where he's loved.
put plastic cat paw gloves on it
or cut it's paws off
I did everything. I even put the thing in a crate and rare gave it food for about two weeks. and slowly filled it with water. Not enough to drown it, of course, but just enough.
do it, i don't see the repercussions being too detrimental
Why are all the polls saying Yes.
I wouldn't do it, just discipline the hell out of him.
Also, cut his paws, then cut them off again when they grow back
