I hate my teacher
Hullo. Help me with this little situation. :c
(If you attend my school, you will probably know who I'm talking about.)
I am currently in 11th grade and taking Pre-Calculus.
The teacher is a piece of poop and does not teach very well. He gives us notes straight out of the book and just expects us to somehow know how to do the problems. Well, he doesn't give us notes, he writes it on the chalkboard (old-fashion, huh.) that makes it really hard to read and when he "teaches" the lesson to us, he talks facing the chalkboard and sometimes covers a portion of it with his body. ...
The majority of our overall grade is based on our test scores (75%)
and homework/other is (7.5%/7.5%).
In other words, the homework barely does anything to improve my grade and he assigns so much of it everyday that it's not even worth doing.
(You're probably thinking, "Since you do all the homework, don't you learn anything from it?" Yes. I do learn from it. However, the problems on the test are so random and out of order that it takes a minute to even realize what the answer should look like. He makes his own test.
I got a B (84%) on the first test, and a C- (70%) on the second test. (Majority of the class got a bad grade on that second test.)
That's not okay with me. >:C
The day after he gave us back our second test, he gave us this stupid lecture about how we can improve. He told us to get a tutor and make flashcards, etc.
And the whole time I was thinking, "Wut the poop, man. Why can't you just teach us in a way that makes it understandable."
Anyway, can someone give me some advice on how to get through this class...without getting a tutor.
Or perhaps you can share your personal experience of having a crappy teacher.
And it's too late to change my schedule, so I can't switch to a different teacher.
PS. I'm not one of those bad students. :c
I have an A in every class except this one.
Thank you for your time.

Talk to your councilor and drop the class. If they offer online pre calc at your school, you could take it instead.
Khanacademy bro
edit: get him fired talk to your Principal and get some friends who have him ot support you
this like my chem teacher, the biggest betch in the world. no one in the school likes her multiple kids have gotten suspended for telling her to F off
Teacher's aren't there to hold your hand.
@Aerolyze: No. This is why he's a fail teacher. Because that's exactly wut he put on the grade report online.
This is why you're failing math... 75+15= 90.
good call.
i had trouble once understanding my grade 12 advanced chemistry teacher because he is nigerian. his accent is very deep. furthemore, no one in the class can understand his style of teaching...he is a great teacher, but the style is very confusing.. luckily i was already good with chemistry and i understood and ended up with a 92. also helped a few of my classmates achieve a "B"
i suggest to ask ur friends for help, form study groups at lunch or afterschool, study groups are important and useful, and EXTREMELY IMPORTANT in university. u could also ask other math teachers for help, im sure there isnt just 1 math teacher at the school...or file a complaint to the office.
University teachers do not give help at all, there is no "explain again please" in university. so it seems to me hes not a "bad" teacher, hes just not helpful. and maybe preparing you for university.
@Christinars: Might be because of the lack of the letter grade "D" in Canada, or at least where I live.
<49% = I/F (Incomplete/Fail)
50% - 59% = C-
60% - 66% = C
67% - 72% = C+
73% - 85% = B
86% - 100% = A
He makes his own test.
o.o o.o o.o
I highly recommend you drop that class and take it with another teacher.
@Christinars Then what advice do you want? Pretty much everybody has given you something reasonable you can do.
If you really don't want to have bad grades in this class here are your choices;
1. Grow a pair, talk to your principal or whatever and get the teacher fired or demoted. His life is pretty much complete, and you shouldn't risk potential work opportunities and what not, just because of this very subject, all because of one teacher.
2. Self study. Go watch youtube vids, there are plenty of people out there who are smarter than him in the world who can help you, indirectly. Or join a study group with friends.
3. Get a tutor.
4. Don't do anything and feel bad.
I wish you the best of luck with this problem.
Talk to the teacher about it.. I had the same problem but the lady talked about her life and only taught for 4minutes then goes off topic for 55minutes?
Just talk to him about it and ask for help.. Not too hard.
LOL I forgot to mention..during that "lecture" he gave us, he said this exactly, "I will deliberately not help you. I will watch you fail. It is all up to you."

You can ask to move to another class you know, in case there are a couple of classes that learn the same...
Teacher suggesting to get a tutor, what a failure as a teacher.
KHAN ACADEMY YAY, also Youtube is legitimately a great teacher in maths and science and so on. Just gotta find the write video
@Christinars: na gurl, ma skool use same system
My calc teacher was Irish or Welsh and his accent was just </3
I just self-studied it...
Just don't use letters to grade. Posting percentages makes it easier for everyone
Also could you by any chance post one of the "random" questions?
Ergh...I can't exactly remember one off the top of my head.
I don't have the test with me either. The teacher keeps it.
O_O Am I the only one who has this type of grading scale? :c
70% - 72% = C-
73% - 77.4% = C
77.5% - 79.9% = C+
Something like this...

I think your best bet would be to find a friend that can teach you, or maybe even consider getting a tutor.
Self-teaching would be the cheapest, most trustworthy way, though. There are plenty of resources on the internet.
Also, how in the heck is a 70% a C-? EX-PLAIN! EX-PLAIN!
This..
Just man up and get this guy fired or demoted or something
geez,is it so hard to destroy a man's livelihood?
tsk tsk,people these days, so naive.
Just kidding, file a complaint.
@KilIerCombo: But I want to deal with this in college, not high school.
@2lazy2makeaname: LOL no thanks. I do not like his presence.
^ that guy is right. ask him for tutor during lunch sometimes? use youtube to help you with some problems
I can help tutor you if you need help, I'm in the same grade in Honors Precalc
File a complaint to the office that you cannot work with this teacher. Show them your marks and the tests/homework he's been doing.
@Hera3: Yes, yes it is.
@xIDyNaMiiTE: Can't.
A chalk board? We use a white board in our school so it couldn't be my school.
@lidomaple: No he's white.
@qwertyxd: I've been doing that. I'm a visual learner, man.
@darksuitguy: Pre-Calculus...
Depends which subject it is.
