With a Pen and Tablet

I haven't done this in a long while and I've been rather dry with my drawings.

How are you guys with the new BasilMarket layout so far? Post below and I might draw you.

Edit: Gotta close the requests now! Look out for the drawing in the Screen! Thanks guys!

I'm still getting used to the layout. Does anyone know if it's possible to search for friends? q-q

i got my drawing tablet like a month ago. it's fun for making lil drawings, i guess. but i prefer pencil and paper. digitally drawing makes some things easier, but i feel like you have more control with a pencil in your hand. idk. i havent really drawn that much anyways so i cant say much.

basil is still kind of a mess. i dont see myself using this site as often as i used to.

@pavchka: Not even one letter without looking? Guess it isn't common as I thought.

I recently got my drawing tablet it was really frustrating to draw with. It took some time but im finally getting used to it. Now i have to learn how to use Paint too SAI properly, and improve my drawing skills in general.

As for basils new layout..its hit or miss. Some of the updates are nice, but most are..well sorta bad or really buggy. The notifications system doesnt work half the time, and there are less people making threads and stories in general. Actually there are less people here in general now due to many users hating the new changes and quitting the site.

@pavchka For a beginner artist, would you recommend paint tool SAI? Or manga Studio?

@xronellx: I needed some adjustment time, haha. I was never able to take notes without looking at the paper.

@pavchka: Honestly I was able to just pick up my tablet without any difficulty. I actually just bought it a week ago and thought I would have to constantly practice to get use to it, but nope. Maybe because I have drawn on paper alot so I have experience that. But not looking at a paper when drawing is the same thing as taking notes. Everyone has probably looked at the front of a board while copying the letters without looking on the paper. Pretty much like that.

The site still has bugs that are annoying.

@mybuliets: Sending you a PM with my username.

It's been a while since I was last active on osu! I felt like playing because I saw you mention it

EDIT: Well, that was a... humbling experience.

Pen tablets have a learning curve that can be off-putting at first (especially if you use complex drawing/painting software) but once you've gotten used to it, it's fun. I use Manga Studio 5. Before that I used SAI, but I draw more than I paint and MS5 has more features than SAI and it has a great brush engine that allows you to import new brushes with a few mouseclicks. Drawback: large brushes are laggy and the program is less stable than SAI.

I don't terribly mind Basil's new layout. I don't terribly like it either. If B were to return to the old layout I'd feel sorry for him, but not for me *cough*. I'm just curious about what's in store.

@repentant : I just consistently play, thinking its endurance training.
Or just take breaks per beatmap/ section pass/fail.
What's your username ?
Let's be friends on Osu !

Now that the forum sections are actually organized, I'm okay with Basil HEH.

@mybuliets: How do you do that my arm gets so tired when I try to play Osu with my tablet

I'm getting used to the new layout. Doesn't necessarily mean I like it though. No matter how much I get used to these changes, if Mr. B brought back the old layout, I would welcome it with open arms and never let go. Right now the Hayato forums are the only reason why I stick around. Those guys are my lifeblood.

Honestly, I have a tablet, but mainly used for playing Osu.
But all in all, the layout is acceptable to me. Maybe a few more extensions and tweaks to it and it should be great.

Personally, I don't do well drawing with a tablet. I prefer the 1 to 1 of pencil and paper... actually drawing on the surface. I just feel more control that way, I suppose. When converting the image to digital formats, I'll scan it, take it into a program to re-trace the lines, then work from there. Paint Tool SAI is a fantastic program for that purpose, as it has tools that you can quickly trace over and adjust the lines cleanly. There is a free trial, but honestly, it's worth the money to purchase the program (which is very cheap compared to something like Photoshop). Sadly, SAI does not work on Windows 10 from what I've heard and does have some limitations.
