Gaming discussion time
Hello Basil, I would like to take this time to talk to you about a certain subject.
Gaming.
But it's more specific than that...
Mobile *gaming.
HAHAHAHA
So in 2009 - 2012 it was really hyped that mobile games would dominate the market because of their really cheap costs. Not only that, but because you could do "other" things with tablets and phones.
Here's the thing. (Correct me if i'm wrong) Mobile gaming is irrelevant now.
Angry birds (Who still plays that?) Temple run (wow it was only big for a couple months)
Point is, people were bashing on the 3DS and PSVita and they were praising mobile games but I have not heard anyone talk about mobile games anymore.
What do you think?
Is mobile *"gaming" irrelevant now?
Has the hype died down?

Jesus Christ, stop trying to justify buying an overpriced paperweight (AKA 3DS/PSVita)
Android gaming is wrecking handhelds as we speak, and there is nothing you can do about it
it died down because its not evoleing fast enough for the world ex: 3ds 2ds 1ds
@dimo: I think what the poster above me said hit the nail on the head.
I think it's "died down" because when mobile gaming first starting coming out, it was new and mysterious and yeah.
Personally I believe, it's still hugely prevalent, but I think the big difference is that it isn't new anymore. It's become integrated with life, along with over-saturation of apps, makes it less talked about.
@dimo: Yes, owning a smartphone has gone up.
What I'm saying is that mobile gaming's hype and media coverage is not as big as it was in 2011 or 2012
Essentially, dying down a bit (a bit)
Maybe it's because of the two console giants and PC gaming and all these new games coming out.
I could be wrong though
I didn't think there was any media coverage for mobile gaming anyway, nor was there any hype. That's not really the business model for mobile games.
Let me rephrase...
It may not be dead, but its hype and momentum has died down

I still think you're wrong, just look at the stats for owning a smartphone, it's skyrocketing, and with it is the potential to make money though gaming and other apps.

Mobile gaming is very limited and restricted because A. there aren't many possible controls for big genres such as fps and rts and B. they weren't made to consume large quantities of time.
While do you think the mobile games section is dead....
Candy crush has been downloaded over 500m times in 2013, I think it's far from dead.
Excuse me?
I don't really understand..
Candy crush has been downloaded over 500m times in 2013, I think it's far from dead.
Mobile game took on the new terms of DS and Vita
Mobile gaming is too limited IMO and that's why they suck. Since it's a full touch screen with little buttons it makes it hard to play/implement more immerse games like the ones on Console or PC/MAC
It won't have as much potential as the market games these days. Mobile games were designed to hold activities for people who have little gaps in time. i.e mini games that help pass the time while waiting at the airport, train, class, etc. It wasn't really geared towards extensive gaming unless your the type of person who likes that.
