I'm not too sure about db's innate %min/Max crit but a brief look over the skills (I may have missed something) leads me to believe its 120+25% min (from sharpness) and 150% Max. An increase of 20% min crit would be a 10% increase in avg crit DMG, or a multiplier of (157.5/147.5)=1.0678 on your average damage assuming 100% crit which is easy with shadow meld. This is assuming you have no other sources of crit damage increase ( such as crit rings or decent seats),which would only lower the average damage increase that you would

For 30% boss to give you less than a 6.78% damage increase, (x+30)/x must be less than 1.0678, where x is the sum of total damage and % boss you have. Multiplying both sides of the equation gives 1.0678x=x+30, and therefore, x=30/0.0678, which is 442.477%. Considering final cut acts as a multiplier by itself, you can't count it as total damage in this equation so you need at least 442% total damage and boss combined for 20% main crit damage to be better, disregarding the huge attack difference between the kataras too.

TLDR: 20% min crit damage is better than 30% boss only if you have more than 442% boss and total damage combined, disregarding the 40+ attack difference which will most likely end up as 70 atk if both katars are perfectly scrolled

No. For most people with about 50% min crit, 20% extra min crit damage is a mere 5-7% dps increase. This dilution is even worse for DBs, since they have many other sources of %min crit damage. The math is pretty easy

((150+20) / 150-1) / 2 = .066 = 6.6%

For 30% boss damage to be worse than a 6.6% dps increase, you'll need over

30/.066= 454 % boss+total damage.

Most people hover around 200-400%.

Then after you factor in SW's 10% pdr and higher base att and the bonus enhance from transposing there's not much left to say.

While crit damage is a rarer stat, I'm not sure if 10% is enough. Also unless you can spell trace the Katara the problem of scrolling the weapon still remains, afaik you can only use Tablets and Chaos scrolls on it.

All classes have a weapon like this that gives similar upgrades. It's too bad the weapons are all so low on the attack scale compared to the now "end game" weapons.

I had one when I didn't have a SW, but now it's completely outdated.

Well we know about it, it's just SW Kataras are much better.
