Is this really stopping my growth
Background: I have hard classes this term and I usually do my homework late. I start around 7pm and I usually end up finishing at 11 or 12. I have to wake up early to go to school either around 6:45am or 7:00am. I come home around 4:00pm and I just go to sleep and wake up at around 6pm.
My question is, are my sleeping habits affecting my brain growth?
My teacher said I need around 9 and a half hours of sleep in order for the front part to grow or something.

@CygnusSalad: What classes are you taking this year? Why would you need to spend so long on homework? And why would you take a nap?
8 hours of sleep is essential, though I only get 6 hours of sleep =P
And no, it doesnt affect growth. Just get better sleeping habits.
well i get about 6-7 hours of sleep usually, sleep at 10-11, and wake up at 5 cause my stupid buss is at 6 AM. but i only have like 2 more inches to grow before my mom stops bugging me about my height, and i'm a freshman so i got no worries.
Don't trust anyone. Are you even aware that scientists, to this day, have no idea why humans, or any organism for that matter, need sleep?
Some people don't even need 8 hrs of sleep, there's been a gene identified with sleep in a family that allows them to have 5-6 hours of sleep and operate as much as everyone else with 8hrs.
@Farce: New Zealand, first year.
@CrayonScribble: ya man, my leisure time has to go somewhere.
@CygnusSalad:
I do too
No, trust me I'm a doctor.
Do your hw as soon as you get home. THEN sleep.
Might I ask about your educational status because I understood what you suggested to the TS, regarding the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland.
What do you mean by educational status? I'm in university, if that's what you mean.
@YourPirateGuy: You're a frackin' pos, nahin, you still play Maple? Wow...
get home at 8, sleep at 1, wake up at 6:30. daily routine, and I'm quite large
Mike, you don't know anything.
Puberty and growth is regulated by the male sex organ.
Bolded - dawg, you might as well say "dkfgbdkfgb", cause I dun even KNOW what any of that means
Italicized - ohhh the relief!
LOL don't take medicine, I'm going to swap next year :L
Medicine honestly isn't all the media makes it to be.

My teacher said that it grows until you're 21.
I have 2 jobs and 21 Units (All advanced BIO and BIO-CHEM). I get around 4-6 hours of sleep a day and I'm 6'4". Maybe I can be taller :O
No it shouldn't affect your growth in any clinically observable manner.
The reason you need sleep is because in the early stages of puberty, luteinising and follicle stimulating hormones are only released during sleep. However, in the later stages of puberty - levels will increase in the day as well.
If are experiencing testicular enlargement from 10-13.5 years, followed by pubic hair development from 10.5-15 years you should be going through a normal puberty. If these haven't occurred by then you should go see your doctor.

It might or might not.
But it surely affects your health.
Generally you should get at least 8 hours for "healthy" practices.
And you shouldn't take naps when you come home cause supposely they mess up your sleeping habits. Like it'd be harder for you to fall asleep at night and when you wake up in the morning, its harder for you to wake up.o_O
But you know, i don't think it's affecting your brain growth cause the people at my school...the less you sleep the smarter you are. And they get 4.0 GPA and take hardcore AP classes.
I wish I could do that .-.
My friend sleeps anywhere between 3/4/5 am everyday to do his school projects, the amount of work we get is intense. He's always ahead of me, but he's putting his health at risk. He's the smartest guy in my grade and his sleeping habit is terrible, so i'd say it wont affect your brain growth lul
growth mostly depends on your genetic (height of parents) and a small % of diet and sleep
The pituitary gland in your brain is what regulates the amount of growth hormone you release.
I'm not an expert, but I do think that sleep optimizes the growth. Really, though, at the end of the day genetics is the main contributing factor.
Where is that located?

@KrackleQuartz: School just starts too early =_=.
Thanks for the information guys =)
So if this keeps up for a year or so, I'm going to become less-intelligent?
o.o
My schedule is worse than yours surprisingly.
whats front part
The front part of the brain. And you should try ATLEAST to get 8 hours of sleep.
I do the same thing, and I do know it affects your growth in general.
