i remember watching a video clip on YT (now removed) which pretty much summed up why the show was bad

Hated every single one of the characters and the plot.

You clearly haven't seen season 0.
The only season that isnt aimed at kids as a target audience.
Most people would have seen yu-gi-oh as kids and understood it just fine, because its a kids game.

The only yugioh that I can stand/like is yugioh season 0

horrible show only pushed by fans that want it too make more anyways here some examples of other cartoons/animes/movies

Pokemon: animals fighting each other to make them stronger

looney toons: guns and many other weopons

Any Marvel and DC Show: constant fights

Adventure Time : Mushroom Wars and its after affects

That one pink dog show: shows multiple things about life death abusers and undead

pretty much it only how you look at things so yea am gussing its a Crappy kids show

zexal overall is meh because of the mediocre first half

@darkchaso69: None of those include children's card games. Also their main focus is the beating and or killing of other people. Children to teens will enjoy either.

the plot is amazing

Because it's about a card game...just because it includes blood and death doesn't mean that it wasn't meant for kids. Maybe it isn't on the level of the teletubbies but I'm willing to bet the target audience is of the younger variety although pretty much any age can enjoy it.
