The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven Author Admits He Lied

credibility of a possible heaven -1

growing up in a christian household, i've always considered myself to be a christian. however, as i got older and experienced life a bit more, i began questioning christianity and religion in general. i would personally like to believe that there is a god, but logic and reasoning based on religious debates prevents me from doing so. coming across news like this support the notion that some so called christians are only in it for the money/fame. anyway, how do you guys feel about this/

excuse the lack of capitals and whatnot, my shiftkey/capslock is broken
I am an atheist, whether there is a god or not, it's always important to respect what others believe
I think that always respecting what others believe can be a very dangerous thing. I'm all for respecting different beliefs unless those beliefs can cause a negative impact on politics, laws, and society. For example if someone believes that blasphemers should be put to death, that is a belief I am not going to respect. Because if you get enough people believing that then it greatly infringes on and impedes the rights and freedoms of others and it can shape public influence and policy towards a very detrimental end.

It is just as important to know when to disrespect someones beliefs than it is to respect them.

ITT: People who are clearly superior to Christians (because I guess Christians have fallen for one big "scam&quot. Plz-no-flamerino

On Topic: Yeeeaah ehhh....it's really tough for me to believe stories about people who have gone to Heaven and come back to life. I feel like it doesn't work that way.

EDIT: Winky unintentional

The fact that religion is based all on a few books written by who knows and the conjecture that there is no proof that god doesn't exist therefore, he must exist is stupid.
Let's all start worshipping banana monkey unicorns with 7 legs, no proof they don't exist, I read that if you tattoo one on your chest, when you die, you'll be reborn as a banana monkey unicorn too let's all go do it1!1!
I'm pretty sure that when religions were first made they had the intention to give an answer (not necessarily a correct one, but just for the sake of having an answer) to the questions that mankind has always asked: "Where did we come from?", "Why are we here?", "What is our purpose?", "Is life everything there is?", "What is going to happen to us after we die?", etc. Religion gives a comforting answer: If you die and you have been good (Important: You must be good according to the religious standard of good, which, more often than not, isn't something that looks ideal to most people - especially people of other religions who have been taught that other things are good.), you get to live forever in happiness where everything is perfect and you get to meet the creator and you get to thank him for all the good that he / she has done to you.
However, religion is very easily twisted into a money-making scheme where people can use their religious authority to squeeze money out of those who believe that religion, even though they [those with religious authority] may not believe that themselves, which explains a lot of the lies and scams that religion has done over the years. (And I'm not even counting the uncountable number of deaths that religion has caused over the years: Killing someone else (or yourself) by the name of God (And of course it's not one specific God, but a lot of them who say contradicting things and none of them have any way of proving their existence in another way than an old book written by people thousands of years ago who didn't know that much about the environment they lived in and attributed everything they saw to their Gods - whether it was a good thing or a bad thing.) is one of the main reasons of genocides for the past few thousand years...)
That's exactly what I think as well.

i dont believe in god for a number of reasons, mainly the fact that he/she doesnt prove that he/she exists. i mean like really people are killing each other because of you and you cant take 10 minutes to make a youtube or show up in person and clear everything up.

Or hell, Hitler went on a killing spree and God couldnt oh idk kill him and make it look like an accident? Yeah sure we eventually got to him but christ at what cost? idk just the lack of evidence to support his/her existence just doesnt make me believe

i think it would have been a nice story for some and he should have just kept selling it, its obviously fake,
if people believed it was real, was it really his fault? if its a good story he should just keep selling it. obviously some people liked reading it

though i personally would think such a story was stupid and soggy and would stay away from it

as for credibility of heaven existing -1, i think it was always at zero so really it changes nothing with regards to heaven

honestly a good deal of things done for the sake of promoting Christianity have been for profit....just look at the crusades.......
but I think that is just human nature and can't be attributed to a single religion. Religion exists to make humanity better, but many people abuse religious teachings for their own self gain...
