My dad was a journalist for a RC magazine during the early 00's; RC drifting was only starting at that point or at least didn't get as much exposure. I do minimal racing, and no drifting personally.
yah i've been exposed to it, its a novelty for me to control a smaller car and drift around, but the noise really bothers me. its not a high rumble like a real car but i hear the gears and the hard wheels on the pavement/ concrete floor and i just hate it. the frequency is just way too high
