Can you explain a little on how "we would be years behind in technology..."?

OT: Hitler was a genius. He brought Germany out of the great depression, reduced the unemployment rate to virtually zero by the beginning of 1936, which also boosted government finances. He basically made Germany one of the most powerful nations in the world during that time, with also the strongest army.
...Although, I must say that I still find it funny that WWII might not have ever happened if Hitler hadn't been rejected from the art school he applied to. lol
