Locked characters?
I played maplestory back in like 2007 then again in 2010-2011. But I decided I wanted to play again and downloaded it through steam because it seems like a simpler way to play and I don't want to deal with the updates and launcher. So I downloaded the game and opened it up. When I went to log into my old characters on Zenith they were all locked? It's like the game knows they exist because it shows a default character outline, but I can't select them.
Does anyone know what's happening? I would really like to get my old characters back because I had a 120 Evan (had some funding) and a 140 BaM along with some lower level characters.
Okay guys, I'm an idiot. So I had reactivated my old account to make sure I wasn't using the wrong one. Turns out I have four total accounts. I thought I had 2. I found the characters

Looks like you might've gotten hacked, and your characters were deleted.

Those seem like free character slots. There's no character there nor are they "locked". If you can find your characters on ranking that means they're still there.
Yeah just free character slots. However, you probably will need to re-activate your account through the website. The email can take a while to send, I had a lot of problems with it. It wouldn't work at all for me in Firefox, but I was able to get an email when I requested it with Chrome.

Yeah I had to log into the main website first because I didn't remember my password.
edit: nothing in my email account.
Have you tried loggin in the main website and/or checking your email?
I have heard they locked inactive accounts to prevent being possibly hacked.
I'm not sure how to take a screenshot. I don't want to make a new character till I find out what's happening but I think I need the game in windowed mode to screenshot it. (which needs to be changed in game or in a file somewhere.)

Well I can still log into the game. It's like my characters files were compressed or something. The game recognizes there's a character there. But It doesn't exist for all intents and purposes. Is there a way I can get those characters back?
Yeah, after you haven't played for a while, your account can be deactivated.

define locked
