Need some to pley games with for skype and music.
Can someone debrief on how to pick nice headphones? My budget is $50.

I recommend around/over ear and not so much over ear.

I'd say grab a pair of cheap sennheiser or audio technica to start as far as sound quality goes.

the ones you mentioned in the thread are On-ear headphones.

The one on the left has an open back, while the other is completely closed.

Open headphones: bad isolation but soundstage is better. Sound will leak in and out so don't use these in public places.
Closed headphones: Good isolation. Sound will not leak and is good for using in public and such.
Noise Cancellation: Uses batteries/electricity to cancel out outside noise.
On ear: Portable headphones usually with small earpads that don't go over the ear
Over ear: Bigger earpads that cover the ear

Headphones under $50:
Monoprice 8323 (Closed)
Koss Portapros (Portable open)
Gemini HSR-1000 or same as Takstar Pro 80 (Closed)
Takstar Hi2050 (open)
JVC HA RX700
