Resume advice
You know how it goes: fake it til you make it.
I'm a high school graduate with no work experience and decent grades, and I'm letting basil--yes, that's right, you lovely people--build my first resume.
Serious help also appreciated.

Lie and say you worked at Wal-Mart, it's easy to get someone to be a fake reference.
easiest way is to get your first job through connections.
I got my first job from my uncle who was a supervisor at a restaurant.

can also put clubs in there somewhere if u were a aprt of anything
use bullets and those line break things i dont know what theyre called but i like having them between titles and stuff under em
nothing flashy
12pt for the stuff, like 14 or 16 for titles + bold it. tnr or arial, whatever you think looks nicer.
apply everywhere. dont have standards. i got lucky with my job but you may not. fast food, retail, whatever. youll get interviews. call around, go in stores, ask if theyre hiring. a resume may not even be needed and they jst want you to fill out their application.
MAKE IT PRETTY. your resume may be very short and have nothing but at least it shows you can organize, spell, etc. nothing flashy, just CLEAN.
pretty much what she said and include any achievements such as getting on the honour roll or any awards you might've gotten.
and like what she said, don't be picky with your first job. some people feel too proud to work at McDonalds, but when working in fast food gives you a lot of experience and the environment isn't that bad generally.
1) google "first job resume template"
2) click blue links
3) ?
@evyxx: I wasn't expecting real help from here but your posts were really insightful. You made my Saturday. Thanks again.

also agree with this. start applying to jobs now, but do volunteer work in the meantime. in one interview i was asked "so what have you done since high school?" and i had basically no response. i did not get that job or ever hear back, even. make it look like you're trying and doing stuff.
Pile on the volunteer exp if you've got little work exp.
@FiendOverlord: Why am I naked?
@evyxx: Thank you.
@lZaktsul: :o I don't know what you're talking about.
Any awards or achievements you got, too. And skills like "organized" or "motivated" or something.
this. bt be prepared to back up your claims with anecdotes
oh and dont make it look like youre trying to make it long. mine goes like, dates tab organization tab city enter center volunteer enter duties, and two references on a line at opposite ends.
@lZaktsul: Did I say something wrong?
@Shir: I've been there over the summer. (Yeah, I know, wrong season.) They really were nicer than where I live. Would visit again.
Hell yeah you did. Take those words back.

@FiendOverlord Yo back the fudge up
Even then, it varies between province to province. Like, Alberta has "CALM 20" for this kind of stuff.

Hahaha I remember CALM 20. First and only time I took summer school since grade 3.
@leopard16 hahah that class is a joke. Easy 90.
It's called Civics and Career. Maybe it's only a Canadian ting.
Decent grades? like what, 70s? that dont mean squat when applying for a job.
Have any volunteer experience?
No experience at all?
Not even volunteer?

Go volunteer somewhere for half a year.
U ask me to build a house but u give me no materials.
Lol, isn't there a mandatory course in soph year specificly for this?
