One's ideas can only take themselves so far. Having outside input helps to increase ideas, designs, productivity, innovation, etc. You didn't have to be rude calling him out on his lack of effort.

Depends on whether you wanna be a movie director or the director of a large company.
just stick with what you have if you can't sum up the effort to be creative.
