@Irony: as if watching a lot of series means anything?
this is probably one of the only times i'll be serious when saying that people truly have bad taste and/or flawed decision making. Ping Pong has two routes: watch bc you like sports anime and/or watch because you actually care about and are interested in animation as a medium. if a person doesn't fit the former, i couldn't care less. i'm more concerned about somebody that watches and likes anime yet doesn't care about artistic accomplishment or pushing the medium. like i literally dunno what to say if their interest is that shallow and they just want to stagnate in each season's pile of turds.

JoJo and Mushishi being second seasons should really just stand as testaments that the first season deserves watching. i realize a lot of series get s2's that were originally crap (or the s2 is bad), but all somebody has to do is actually poke around those series to understand they don't require tons of investment. Mushishi is episodic, so nothing is lost by watching out of order between or within a season. JoJo S2 covers the third part of the manga, which is pretty standalone in terms of plot, and the anime has a pretty expository first episode that would clue any new viewer in. again tho, both of those series' S1 should be watched simply because of how good they are and there's plenty of stuff out there confirming that.

@Deciduous: lol well if i was to drop a show to avoid potentially wasted time it would be brnyhildr if i were you

actually i know quite a lot of people who aren't watching jojo ping pong or mushishi. ping pong due to not really liking the sport that the anime focuses on, and the other two due to never having watched the sequel
these are people with 400+ entries on their MAL
SO I decided to watch mushi-shi S2, should I watch S1 first?
The episodes aren't in any particular order, but I'd watch S1 first for the sake of common sense.

You have months to catch up so it's not a problem.

you won't miss anything by starting S2. i'd say just watch episodes of S1 in between the episodes of S2.
Mahouka just became terribad after the second ep. The first one was a decent set-up, but the second was so slowly paced, it was as if the first ep didn't even happen. MC confirmed op as well. So dissapointed. Still hope since there are 26 eps in this one though.
MC is the most OP thing possible in the Mahouka universe.

Still awesome as hell.
Kawai Dormitory got a lot better after ep 1, dont know if youve seen it yet
I also don't think there is anything wrong with Mahouka, No Game No Life, Black Bullet or Brnyhildr yet either.

i dont think theres any show that is "must watch" this season yet because only 1 ep for most shows have aired
I haven't seen the new Kawai Dorm episode...but for everything you listed, I'm not outright condemning them, it's just that they don't seem worth watching yet. It's not as if I don't have time to watch more than the select five or so I think will take the season, but I also don't want to waste time on series bogged down with fanservice or that are mostly dull/cliche. Brynhildr is actually incredibly dull, and everybody I know who has read the source confirms that. Since everything else is still at episode 1 (except for Mahouka, which is still okayish) I don't have anything else to really inform a decision to drop or dislike.

You're totally wrong though. JoJo, Ping Pong, and Mushishi are actual must-watch series. If people are letting things like subject matter or non-traditional aesthetics get in the way of those shows, the scope of their taste must be pretty limited. I'd also question their judgment, or at least the what they attempt to offer as a justification.

Must watch:
JoJo Part 3
Mushishi S2

Would recommend:
Ping Pong: The Animation
Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou
Nanana's Buried Treasure
Isshuukan Friends

Considering that most titles only have 1-2 episodes out at the moment, I don't have much of an opinion yet, especially for titles that aren't sequels like JoJo or Mushishi.
Date a live 2 (didn't see the first episode but season 1 was good)
Unfortunately the first episode of season 2 was trash. I heard the animation staff was changed.
Lel, you couldn't tell it was terribad from episode 1 and that MC was OP? You were disappointed? Lel, level up some moar.
There was very,very,very(100x) little hope, but still hope for the MC to actually be overly arrogant or w/e bs madhouse could think of to lead him to not being op in later episodes.

Ones I like are:

Mekaku city actors
Haikyuu
Mahouka
Date a live 2 (didn't see the first episode but season 1 was good)
wixoss

To be honest, I haven't seen most of the first episodes for most shows because my earphones broke and I'm not able to watch anime.

Beyond that, I've heard some good things about Wixoss' first episode, even though I don't think anyone had really big expectations for the show.

I actually did skip around through Mekaku, and it's p average from what I can tell. Lots of bright colors tho, because SHaft
