Men With Piercings

I'm nearly 17, so I'm also just entering the job market. I did construction last summer, then washed dishes for a few months. Quit washing dishes because terrible hours and feel as if I am capable of a much better job, which would better fit my interests. Here's the thing: I'm into tattoos and piercings. I have a small tattoo on my wrist which is covered by my watch, and I have the outline of New Zealand on my ankle which is somewhat masked by my leg hair/covered with a long sock. I currently have my nose pierced with a ring, and I'm on the edge when it comes to getting my helix pierced. I want to do it really badly, but I don't want to look like a piece of metal. I could always just take the nose ring out and the helix alone wouldn't be a problem, but together I fear looking intimidating.

What do you think about men with piercings, specifically helix (upper cartilage on ear)?

Like @iHipster said, many places are becoming more open to body modifications (to an extent). Obviously, this varies from place to place -- but having a moderate amount of piercings and/or tattoos is definitely not as big of a deal now as it was before.

Your helix should be fine. Since you don't have your helix done yet, though (and you shouldn't mess with it until it's fully healed), go around and ask prospective employers what their policy on piercings is -- specifically for ears. If they don't mind, go ahead with it; if they do and you still want it done, either grow your hair out a bit or wait until you can take it on/off (which will take some time since ~hellocartilage).

With your nose piercing, you can either remove it during work hours (I had a friend who took out his septum piercing during shifts and put it back in when he was off) or get a retainer. Retainers are a good idea if there's a risk of the piercing closing up after a few hours of it being removed.

It is~

Also just noticed my septum & plugs are hardly even visible ;3;

i only like piercing on ears, single one on upper corner of mouth and one near eyebrow
everywhere else is not appealing

Honestly, if you're into that sort of thing go for it! I personally am not.

If you're going small-time like malls and retail and all that stuff, that's fine. Corporate? Not so much. There's thousands of other applicants so they definitely will not choose you if you're aiming corporate.

working in clothing retail will possibly be easy for you, go to the mall or something.

If you're good enough at what you do, no one will give you flak for your appearance~

Hence why I get a lot of flak for my appearance. LOL. But a lot of places are becoming more accepting of body modifications, i've got 5/8" plugs, a 14g septum, and I recently removed my 16g snakebites.

My job doesn't particularly care (although it's just a call center), I have worked retail before and they said as long as you do your best to hide them it isn't much of a concern to employers, if you're well qualified for the position.
