Getting A Bigger Phone

To everyone who has a phablet - how was the transition from regular phone size to it? I'm using an iPhone 5 right now and I am either gonna get the 6S or 6S Plus. Today I went in the store and tried out the Plus and it felt ginormous to me but I know most of that is due to me being used to the 5's size for so long. I really like the idea of the image stabilization, more pixels, and longer battery life but if I can't get used to the phone size then it wouldn't be worth it.

@collee what a crappy thing to invest in. Now they have you trapped in buying their below-par overpriced products.

@idksomuch: I like the term "heavily invested into the Apple ecosystem". I'm going to use that from now on whenever someone asks me why I have an iPhone.

@idksomuch Yeah I think Samsung phones are great but I just can't leave apple and can't stand android's OS (no matter what skin is used over it). I honestly don't even want a phablet either but for some reason people are wanting bigger screens so if the trend continues like this I'll have to cave eventually. XD And yeah 64 GB for sure. I currently have 16 GB and I always get the storage almost full message so I couldn't imagine dealing with that on a phone that can do live photos and 4k video recording. Anyways thank you for your comment.

The reason the 6/S Plus feels so big is its bezels. 5.5 inch is considered average nowadays because the trend that no consumer seems to like is that screens get bigger and bigger. With that said, the 6/S Plus is a great phone with great battery life. Unfortunately, you'll be paying $850+ for a reasonable amount of storage because Apple refuses to ditch the 16GB size ( which you would think they'd do considering their massive pile of money, them cheap asses) so keep that in mind. However, if you do want a phablet with actual phablet features that has a bigger screen but smaller body as well as a camera and screen that easily compete with the 6 Plus, consider the Note 5. It also has fast charging/ fast wireless charging which I can tell from experience, is a life saver. My room mate just complained about how his iphone 6 is at 10% when we were about to leave for costco. My Note 5 could've charged to around 25% in just the 10 mins we were using to prepare to leave. Anyways, I don't want to sound like a fan boy, but these are my suggestions. Just remember that if moving from iOS to Android, none of the purchases you made in apps and music transfers over.

EDIT: I just read that you are heavily invested into the Apple ecosystem. Nevermind my comment, just get an iPhone.

@duzz Omg I just looked up the Nexus 6 and it says the screen size is 5.96". :x Now 5.5" doesn't seem to bad LOL. But yeah I've decided on the Plus cause that way I can test it out for a week or so and if I just can't adapt to it I can return it and get the regular size with no regrets later on.

I'd say 6S plus is your best bet then

@fradddd Yeah I'm leaning towards that now cause I looked back on the specs and found out that the 5 is 4" while the 6S is 4.7" so I figure that's what the 5.5" phone felt so huge to me. And I've been paying attention to how I use my phone and I generally hold it with two hands so it shouldn't be too hard to get used to.

The only thing stopping me now is what caeg said about the phone in pockets so now I'm like checking all my pockets to see if it'll fit.

But if it doesn't work out I can always return it after a week or so of trying it out and then get the 6S without wondering if I should have gotten the 6S Plus.

@aeswag get the Plus. I haven't met a guy my age or older who has smaller hands than me, but I can still handle a 5.5 inch screen phone like the 6+.

I'd go with the 6S Plus. You will most likely get used to the size over time. I went from 5S ~ > 6S Plus and still getting used to the screen probably due to using 5S for so long

I had 5.2 inch LG G2 which isn't considered a phablet, and I went to the 5.5 inch OnePlus One. It isn't too bad. You get used to using two hands a lot.
Basically you can get used to almost anything.
why not just get a tablet / mini tablet instead? it's cheaper and probably better at what you intend on doing with the bigger screen.
Honestly I don't care about the bigger screen and the only use it'd have for me is bigger keyboard and the ability to read if I got bored enough to actually do that. What's good about it is the extra battery life, extra pixels, and image stabilization.

@caeg Ah I honestly didn't think about pockets LOL I usually only have mine in my pocket when going places.

@radiqal I can hold it with one hand but I like using my thumb throughout the whole screen and with the plus I have to like reeeeeally stretch my thumb to get to the top left corner.

Of course it's going to feel huge, your hands are small. You won't be able to get used to it with small hands.

I went with the iPhone 6+ from the iPhone 5 and don't regret it at all. I watch a lot of shows on my phone so having the bigger screen really makes things to much better. I just upgraded to the 6s+ and the image stabilization during video is very noticeable compared to my 6+. The only downside to having a bigger phone would be my phone doesn't fit in some of my pockets when I sit down. I've become used to taking my phone out of my pocket and placing it on the table.
