To all the kids and teens who buy video games
Why do you guys all buy COD or any FPS/RPG games that come out but none of you kids/teens buy fighting games. I always see threads about COD and LoL but there are never any for fighting games. Personally, I only 1 game which is a fighting game and the competition is so much fun. I've been playing it for 4 years now and probably will play it more until the next version comes out which might be in another 5 years.
If you do buy fighting games how old are you and how long do you usually play them for.

Fighting games, don't have a mass appeal like other games, I play fighting games super casual with friends when we hangout.
Because the learning curve is too hard for games such as SSF4, Tekken, etc. There is a fine line between decent players and good players in fighting games.
Yeah that's true and a lot of people don't like to put any dedication into learning it because it takes A LOT of time to learn.
@Treno
Like I said before, you can play online or find a place to play locally.
Fighting game I play:SSBB
FPS I play:TF2
I buy fighting games :o Mostly Soul Calibur (practically own all of them). I'm nearly 20 and I've played fighting games for years ^^ since I was about 11 or so.
I still wreck people in that game though in college xD
CoD...just extremely repetitive with everyone using the same overpowered gun.
LoL I've never played, so I can't say anything
I'd say that fighting games require more "skill" than most FPS games around. I now prefer GoW way more than CoD, though
If there's a game that require strategy, intellect and skill, Armored Core would probably do it best
Sorry if this offends anyone, but I'll admit that I loved BO2's campaign >_>
I don't buy fighting games much anymore, but I play Tekken from time to time
for fighting games, all I need is DoA. not a big fan of those other ones such as street fighter and mortal combat. last time I played mortal combat was on the SNES when I was like, 5 or 6

Not everyone is like you. Everyone has different tastes when playing video games. It's just the majority of people like to play games like lol or cod. Personally, I don't even play games. c:
BlazBlue: fast paced gameplay, flashy skills, amazing combo's, beautiful sprites, balanced...
...yeah, that's my game.
@Deciduous: I understand that, not everyone has the time to learn and play them competitively. It's also very discouraging to the newer players who will lose 20 games in a row and then be done with the game forever.
@Dpwarrior30
Yeah, none of my friends play or want to play them with me because I just win for free but I met a lot of new people going to tournaments and playing sessions offline. Grouping up with your local players and playing offline is the most fun because everyone there has the same interest as you and it gets your more competitive/better at the game.
Fighting games require a lot of more time to master every move and to perfect it is just time consuming. That's what I think is one of the main reason people don't talk much about them. Another thing is you can't really get on one of those and bring along your friends for the fun. On CoD and other games, everyone can just team up and what not.
@gunblade72: i've thought of enough reasons against me playing fighting games so that i just don't bother. i generally don't think about them positively or negatively though...so i've got nothing against them.
i'm just not very competitive and would choose characters regardless of usefulness/tiers etc. it's also rare that a fighting game really interests me as far as characters/aesthetics go.
Most fighting games are just smashing buttons
Have you ever watched any fighting game videos.

No button mashing in there. Button mashing is only at the lowest possible level of play and people who know nothing about that game fall into that category.
Most fighting games are just smashing buttons
the FGC is arguably the worst community, next to MOBAs/ARTS
fighting games require other players and skill
i've like the ones i played but never got invested enough to know priority, combos, etc etc.
It takes a while to learn everything (easier now with all the content online) but it's a fun process especially if you have someone to compete with. If you don't you can probably just play online or check shoryuken.com and check the regional matchmacking forum and see if there is a scene where you live.
@kayfabe
Lol, you can say that about any community. There are always gonna be people bad people in every community and nothing will change that. Fighting game community is probably the most entertaining and hype out of all games. People who know nothing about MOBAs or FGs will probably have more fun watching a fighting game stream than a MOBA one.
Fighting games suck... it's just button mashing with a couple combos... gets boring quick.
You point and literally just click one trigger/button in a FPS game. Too out of shape to remember complex combos and get your fingers moving fatty?
yeah, but who doesn't like shooting stuff and blowing stuff up?

I just brought LoL up because it is popular and so many people play it on this forums. I want to know why the newer generation don't play fighting games but it's probably because you have to pay for them and LoL is free. I started playing fighting games when I was 16 and my bro and I were basically the only people in my school who played. When ever I go play offline everyone is like 20-30 and there are never any kids. It's just sad that fighting games are gonna die soon.
@juliacat
By looking at the pictures in google it doesn't look like there is a versus mode so no.
Would Streets of Rage 1-3 on my Sega Genesis game count?
I like fighting games but they're not something I play often. I play a little UMvC3 whenever I'm at my friends house. Love that game <3
Fighting games are repetitive. LoL is at least some what strategical. CoD, well u got me there, then again I don't play that sh it
How are fighting games repetitive? There is a different way to play with every character and against every character. Not only that, you have to play according to your opponents play style. Every round is different than the other. You can't say fighting games aren't strategical, every single button and move you press has to be used with thought, if you are randomly doing something you are going to lose.
@DragonHaQ
All the new fighting games have online to play and you can probably play and learn how to play irl with your fighting game scene depending where you live.
Does super smash bros count?
Word of God said it is a party game
I used to play fighting games all the time haha, but they lack variety compared to RPGs and FPSs with online and campaign.
Does super smash bros count?
Some might argue that that smash bros is a fighting game but Idk, I don't consider it to be a serious fighting game.
@BlackOpsII
That's what all the kids think but there is so much more than button mashing and combos. You think button mashing is going to win you a match against someone who knows how to play and gl landing your combos on someone who can block. You need to learn how to open up your opponents.
theres no killstreaks in fighting games
