why do weight gainer shakes taste like crap

So I bought this 5 Lb weight gainer tub to help increase my calorie intake (3 servings is like 1000 calories, 60g protein, 30g carbs, and etc) and ultimately gain weight.

I take 2 servings because 3 is way too much for me and mix with 500 ml of milk in a blender. The guy I bought it from in the health store said it tasted delicious like chocolate milk. I take one sip of it and had this nasty aftertaste that made me gag and almost throw up. I eventually finished the shake after 1 hour of taking many small sips while I cried in pain and agony throughout. No one should ever drink weight gainers if they dont want to, no one should ever experience this kind of pain I felt.

So my question is do weight gainers normally taste this horrible?

I ended up addicted to my tub of banana flavored whey which i found disgusting at first. I think after my first mix I left the whole tub down in the basement for like a year. After which I went on a drinking spree. I was pretty sad after I ran out

it's probably made from cheap whey, that's why. you're probably better off eating real food. it's really easy to get more protein than you will ever need from home cooked meals. eat your vegetables, too.

I've taken a few.... the only one that I actually liked was ON Pro Complex Gainer in Vanilla, most of them are pretty disgusting and the serving sizes are huge for one serving.
I stopped wasting money on them and just made my own. 2 scoops of whey protein, 1-2 cups of whole milk, 1 cup of dry oats, 1tbsp of peanut butter, one banana, and that itself is already 800-900 calories, and it's much easier and tastier to drink.

My protein tasted like trash at first, I throw some nescafe in it and it mixes well with the vanilla. But I'm starting to have problems with my stomach like my whole pooping schedule is like ruined and everyday when I wake up I have stomach pains. It even started before my protein shake, it was just milk. It sucks so idk if I have to switch so something else, maybe I'm lactose intolerant idk.

I took it on and off for months, it's disgusting. I haven't taken it in months now. I hate milkshakes, and if I put it with water it's disgusting

Of course you won't like it the first time but eventually you'll get used to the taste and may even start to like it.
