Is Cowboy Bebop Good?

Obviously, my opinion will be different from what you guys think, but I am planning to watch Cowboy Bebop because i listened to the soundtrack which is amazing...
Space Lion, Time To Know- Be Waltz are 2 songs i've heard in the ost that I love...
Is the plot good?
Is it a shorter 25-30 episode anime?
I know I could also look this up, but I also want your guys' opinions on the show.
No Spoilers please!
I think it looks interesting but what drew me to wanting to watch it is the soundtrack.
I'm excited to see it!

Bebop is classy. Dut duuuu tooo doooooot totootototottotoooo! (and excerp from tank for those who can read my onomatopoeia of Tank!) Kanno Yoko. Lord. AMEN. The blues create a perfect atmosphere, and even on its own it's a treat to listen to.
Visually, the series is stunning, with a style that seems unique to anime, 20th century jazzy vibe, which complements the story and music well. However, when the animation needs to show its sci-fi face the moment is captured so perfectly. The idea itself is simple; however, it is compelling as well. The compelling characters at the helm make you interested in their dreams and situations. The series is full of good examples of episodic stories. My favourite one would be the MUSHROOM SAMBA, EP 17. These are just a few of the great stories and great characters that result in some of the most memorable moments ever to be shown on the small screen.
10/10

@above man, I worked on this comment for ages, and then I come back from lunch just to see I was ninja'd and moved to 2nd page...;____;
I have already finished Samurai Champloo, my favorite anime series.

If you like Champloo, then you'll like Bebop for sure.
Bebop is an anime classic. I wouldn't say it was my all time favorite but it's something I would easily recommend to anyone. It's awesome fight scenes and sound track alone are one of my favorites. They also do a great job with character development making you become much more attached to the characters. At least give the first four episodes a try. If you're a fan of it, check out Samurai Champloo like Missy suggested. It's created by the same people and shares the great fighting style and sound tracks with a more samurai and hip hop vibe..
i watched it years ago so i barely remember much about it and can't go into full detail, but i do recall really really enjoying it.

i had exceedingly low expectations for the series and really did not think that i'd like it because i generally don't like cowboy themes, outer space themes, OR futuristic themes so i was essentially forcing myself to watch it due to it's grand reputation being regarded as a classic AND it was made by the same creator as samurai champloo. i never had any prior interest.

however i went on and watched the first episode and i wasn't entirely paying attention but i liked what i saw and continued to watch it. to make a story short i ended up really really enjoying it and it's definitely up there on my list of anime. i would recommend it to anyone

I've started to hate Bebop threads bc of all these ppl just now watching the show, disliking it, and coming into threads to bad mouth it when they're obviously missing the point and lack appreciation for artistry.
Bebop is a medium length show that crafts likable and multifaceted characters, throwing them into situations both serious and silly. There's not an overarching plot so much as each character has their own arc that is explored in juxtaposition w the (mis)adventures that make up the rest of the show. The great stories and characters are backed by, as you know, a fantastic soundtrack in addition to great use of animation. Action scenes are fluid not only bc the most work was put into them, but bc they were choreographed very consciously. Ultimately it's a series with great individual pieces that came together to create the rare sort of series that enjoys mass appeal and also critical acclaim.

It's the sort of thing you should see at least once due to status, and also to just be aware of that part in the Grand Scheme of Anime.

It is my all-time favourite anime... and many people agree with the sentiment - it's one of the best anime out there. EVER.

A lot of people try to pin down the story, which is completely missing the point on this one. The series is less about the plot and more about the characters and how they interact with the world(s) and situations they're put in. This is very much a character piece more than a story one and every character does get focus, from the misfit crew of the Bebop to even one-shot characters who appear for a single episode. Some characters that appear for a single episode are written better than some main characters in other anime. The end result is you caring about each and every character in one way, shape or form. You want to laugh with them and cry when bad things happen... and both happen a lot. You will be very invested in at least one of the main characters, if not all of them.

The pacing is different from episode to episode... it can be quick and light-hearted one episode, then slow and heavy in others... but no episode really feels like a miss. When they're action, the action is excellent. When there's a slow, dialogue-filled moment, it feels meaningful.

If I were to try to give an overall genre style to the overall series, more often than not, Cowboy Bebop is pretty "film noire"... especially any episode featuring Jett (especially my favourite episode, "Black Dog Serenade&quot. Still, there are some episodes that are very different, including another favourite of mine, "Cowboy Funk", which is a straight-up comedy.

And you were right to look at the music - legendary songsmith Yoko Kano along with the band The Seatbelts put together almost the entire soundtrack to the show and the excellent movie that accompanies it. If you can find the soundtrack, buy it. It's VERY much worth the price.

Cowboy Bebop was done by Shinichiro Watanabe, who I believe also was behind Samurai Champloo, Darker than Black and, if memory serves me, Steins Gate. If you like any of those, you should certainly like Bebop.

Well, that's all I can say for now.
"See you, Space Cowboy!"

EDIT: @GHSNinja - Although there are SOME similarities, you might want to look at another anime that came out at the same time as Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, if you want to see something more "Firefly"-ish. A lot of people accused Joss Whedon of copying Outlaw Star when making Firefly (which is not true - he never saw it until much later, despite the first couple episodes having a lot of similarities). It's also a very good series as is the 3rd anime that came out around the same time as Bebop and Outlaw Star - Trigun.

Its definitely worth at least one watch. It's a classic. It is pretty episodic, but its fun and the characters are generally likable, especially Spike. The soundtrack is great. It is something different from other anime and it definitely fits. I say go for it. I thought it was good, if that helps you any.

Been watching it and im currently on episode 12 and i really dont see why people recommend this anime. It feels really slow and the only episode that really got my attention was like ep 6 or 7 when the main character encounters someone from his past. Other then that i dont feel like it has a main story line its more like an adventure then anything else. Just my 2 cents
