How would I do this sequence

Sequence math
The 3 means I need to do the sum of the first 3 things
so I would plug in -2 for i and get 2(3)^-2 then add that to 2(3)^-1 then add that to 2(3)^0
But the anwer key says it's like 80 something
What am I doing wrong because I'm getting an answer of 2.___
Which is far from what the answer key and my graphing calculator say.
The three does not mean you have to do the sum of the first three things.

The three is the last digit you need to enter for the summation to be done.
Plug in i = -2, i = -1, i = 0, i = 1, i = 2, and i =3.
I see. Thank you so much.
So the series of that equation I sent is equal to= a sub -2 + a sub -1 + ... + a sub 3
I got the answer correct now!
Thanks a lot!

Yeah I think I miswrote series for sequence but I understand the difference.

Also, that isn't a sequence. A sequence is a list of numbers such as 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, and so on.
A series is a sum over a list of numbers. The sigma you drew is a summation sign which is used for series.
