recent outrage with womens rights

i just saw some girl on facebook who posted a video and wrote the message: "Robin Thicke can kiss my [butt]."

This is the video she posted and in my opinion, a lot of that video is a load of BS. the controversy over the Blurred Lines video was ridiculous. i think a lot of women are just upset with the fact that sex sells, but there are definitely some ignorant statements in that video.

anyways, what are your thoughts basil? do the feminists have a point, or is all the uproar unnecessary?
I saw this post on tumblr where the lyrics are compared to what real rap1sts said to their victims. I remember seeing more but yeah... I think they're angry because it's a rap3y song.

Still catchy af though.
lol tumblr feminists

ok, the actual ideology of feminism is good (equal rights for both sexes), but the way it's executed by its supporters is just horrible. a lot of feminists blow things way out of proportion and sometimes lean towards misandry. definitely not gender peace and equality.

but, uh, a lot of people like to blame misogyny for forced intercourse (the word is censored), which isn't exactly true. even if we had a society where women had the same equal rights as men, forced intercourse would still be a thing. the prevention to forced intercourse itself is not purely gaining equal rights.

also, why is the word for forced sexual intercourse censored? it's a serious crime, not some cuss word.
Troll?

Not sure if troll or just incoherent
You make me LOL in so many ways, fine I will say things more seriously.
Most feminist don't acknowledge men weak points in society due to the fact it might undermine their cause.
However this is a male dominated society so that is why there is a lot of backlash against feminism,
Feminism is good I guess (as long as the ideology is that it achieves equality)

DOES THAT MAKE IT CLEAR TO YOU?
DOES IT?
I guess a semi-educated feminist would probably acknowledge your point, and retort that the main issue isn't the fact that men and women are both capable of facing abuse, but rather that our society is itself abusive to women.
orly? I find that attractive girls get treated a lot better by society. No one knows why but some studies suggest it has to do with their pokemon skills.
His point:

feminism would quietly entertain that double standard, but would complain very loudly if it was tilted in the other direction
***
That would be a problem with somebody's personal agenda, not with feminism.
Feminist want "equality for the female gender" but there's so much hypocrisy and double standards that make the ideology annoying as hell. For example, a boy pants a girl, exposing her private parts, becomes a register sex offender and goes to court and the media covers the story like crazy. While, a group of girls strips down a boy naked and only gets a slap on the wrist and barely any media covered the story.
Huh. That sounds an awful lot like a pro-feminism point you're trying to make, by suggesting that both genders should be treated as equals in the eyes of the law.

Are you sure you understand what feminism is?

bc objectification
its not really the first time that women are used as props in videos unfortunately, but when you add the sexual-assaultish and blurrying of consentish lyrics the whole thing is really gross, and robin thicke looks like moldy cottage cheese and his eyes have no life to them

obvi since the song is about a woman and getting it on with a woman girls are more sensitive to the topic and contents of the video and yknow if thats how they feel then thats cool thats their perspective in which most men cannot understand since they are well, men. And do not understand the sensitivity. Something like that.

'Sex does not sell. If sex sold, we would see penizes where we see boobs. Naked men would be on everything that naked women are on. Sex isn't what they're selling you. They're selling you an impossible, purnographically fueled misogynistic idea of the perfect woman.'

why is everything filtered

anyway, you really can't post on basil and expect an intellectual discussion about social issues (especially topics that direct to minority groups)

lol i knew right away after i read "women rights" that this would be a joke

*should probably note that i'm not saying women don't deserve equal rights as men and all that other good stuff (insert your joke here). It's just this topic gets way blown out of proportion and people always over react.
