If you want to keep up with the trends, just make sure to always fade the sides. The only drawback with fading is that it only looks fresh until the 3rd week after the haircut (for me). It still looks good though, in my opinion.
your hair's fine at its current length, just run a little pomade or something through it for volume/texture
i'd work on acquiring some dentures first and foremost mate
