Switch from Bishop to I/l?

idk if I should switch from my bishop to an i/l or start from scratch? I dont really use my bish too much but i keep it for nostalgic reasons however if I do switch jobs i wont be able to really afford mastery books for the i/l, but i'd keep a full fafnir set. I was thinking of making a new I/L from scratch however i'd have to delete my NW which serves as a CK link skill. If I'm unfunded would the damage difference between bishop and I/L be that dramatic?

@FunkyFlame While chain lightning is slightly faster than paralyze, the gap is closed with fire poison mage's flame aura. The flame aura is also the reason why FP mobbing is superior to IL mobbing. When I'm bossing, my fire poison mage can inflict 42m per second extra damage over time as well. That's almost like another extra line as well.

When covering a map in some place such as kiritas, both FP and IL mages will be using teleport and their 4th job summon to clear mobs.

IL also has a thunder cloud, but not useful in anything except dojo and pre-boss summons. If you move too far, cloud disappears. FP mage has flame aura which makes the mobbing much better than IL's mobbing.

While stationary shooting, bishop is FAR superior to the two, but in comparison of only IL and FP, FP's paralyze not only reaches farther, but also has consistent range. IL's CL can theoretically reach farther but it needs good conditions (the mobs have to be standing in the right places) Chain lightning on its own will reach shorter than paralyze will.

Of course, I've played all three so these opinions aren't really coming from misinformation or bias. I've soloed chaos vellum on all three and trained on all three. Fire poison mage won me over ultimately.
FP mage and bishop are both great mobbers. Ice lightning mage's mobbing is quite underwhelming.

If you're training from 1-250, I would recommend bishop all the way.

FP mage is boring as hell to train, sadly, but it's better than ice lighting.
Bishop's mobbing is amazing all around in things like DH2 etc.
As for [FUNDED] FP mage vs ice lightning, FP mage beats IL in too many aspects for IL to be considered.
Unfunded training is a bit different of course, since funded takes into account simply using teleport mastery around the map to kill everything. Unfunded training will look at paralyze v chain lightning. Depending on the map, each mage has its own pros and cons.

It really depends on your circumstance and funds and what your goals are.
While capping 100% on both, why do you feel I/L is so much weaker? I guess the DPS is a bit down but they can still do the same things:o Play- style wise I felt like I/L was superior to F/P when it comes to most things :s But I guess it comes down to personal preference. Also @CherryTigers Do you lose anything if you job change? I used 2 different mages when I tried out the 2 classes, might switch over to F/P for the lulz for a couple of weeks, are there any downsides to switching? (I heard about something a while back where you lose MP, but I'm not sure that this is true or not)

OT: You have the ability to play all 3 classes, start out as a Bishop to make it easier to get a party+HS, then try out the 3 different jobs! It's all personal opinion!
I have different opinion upon this.. Angel Ray is crazy op in SDH, Chain Lightning's reach is pathetic comparing to AR, and Paralyze doesn't hit very far, or you have to constantly move to use Inferno Aura. No to mention 20% bonus self EXP on Holy Symbol.
Possibly, but I still believe f/p has superior mobbing. If you can cap with f/p, flame aura/para/meteor etc all combined are superior.
My information comes directly from @cherrytigers
However, if you want to level faster its best to become an i/L or F/P because they have better mobbing capabilities. Training is always better than leeching in the end. (With or without hs)

Can I ask why 215?
It's just a number really. 210 is probably a better average level to stop at, but the thing is, there are too many 210's. Therefore 215 is then next best thing. You'll pass a ton of people on rankings as well.

If you want to keep leveling to 220 or something, stay as a bishop. You'll get into parties easier and all you need to do is hs.
However, if you want to level faster its best to become an i/L or F/P because they have better mobbing capabilities. Training is always better than leeching in the end. (With or without hs)
Whoever established Ice lightning mage = i/L is stupid.

OT: Switch to I/L when you're like 215.
Much more worth imo (thats what I did)
Can I ask why 215?

I converted my bish to i/l simply for my character card mule. I don't really use my bish anymore. Quite useful for mage character lIke me

"I dont really use my bish too much"
well i mean..........
like if you don't play your bishop too often, then changing jobs to i/l won't make you play it even more. just leave it as it is.
