iPad Mini ?

So recently, Apple quietly released the iPad Mini with Retina Display.
I'm quite tempted to buy one and I've been bugging my mother about how she should get it for me as a Christmas present.

Should I get it?
Like I use it for Entertainment purposes on like Road Trips or whenever my internet is down or whatever.
iPod Touches are too small, iPads are too big.
iPad Minis are still big, but they're at an alright size.
So what are your opinions?
Also please don't comment like
"Apple sucks"
"Android is better"
&
ETC.
I can already feel it under my skin though, so yeah.
Some iPad Mini Specs:
64-bit architecture
iOS 7
Retina Display (obviously)
iOS 7 Chip thing
5 MP Camera on some side
There's more but that's just a few..

Well we ARE talking about iPad Minis with Retina Display..
I guess you really are your BasilID
I'm simply listing out a few more options you could choose from for mini tablets. You never stated in your original post that you were looking to get an iPad and only an iPad. You asked if you should get the new Mini so while I didn't answer your question, I listed out a few more choices with one or two benefits of each. And BTW, I mentioned that I've only ever laid hands on the FIRST iPad Mini from 2012, the one without Retina Display, and the 4th gen iPad, also from 2012. I'm not looking for an argument but "Well we ARE talking about iPad Minis with Retina Display.." means...? Did I say that you weren't?

I hated apple products and felt they were overhyped and all that stuff.

I just bought an Ipad mini for my father on black friday for like 300 dollars and so far he loves it. I've used it a few times and I must admit, it's very smooth and does the job.

@5oClock
If it's better than an iPod Touch 4, then it's okay.
I also read about the Color Reproduction and I probably will barely notice it.

I've never laid hands on any tablets besides the iPad 4 and the first iPad Mini, but if you want a mini tablet, heres a list of some pretty awesome ones:
Nexus 7 2013 (thinner bezels, $230 price for 16 GB model, and more improvements)
LG G Pad 8.3 ( quad core, 1080p display and looks really nice, $350)
iPad Mini with Retina Display, basically a smaller iPad Air with a $100 lower price

The retina display is actually stunning, you can tell the difference between retina and non-retina displays on iPads.
It also has a better processor so it'll run faster and smoother than the first iPad Mini and other regular sized iPads, except the air; they're the same chip.
Coming from an iPad 2 user, the iPad Mini with Retina is definitely worth it!

I never said I hated Apple products @bubblecup118
I actually love them, they're easy to use and they're fashionable.
I'm just curious to see if I should get it if it's worth the money and stuff.

And maybe if you did some research you'd know that Apple quietly released the iPad Mini for buy on their online store. That's why they're running low on iPad Minis with Retina Display?

Gosh, sorry for blowing off a little steam there, but I just felt that attitude vibe.

Take a look at the Nexus 7. You can get a 32GB one for $269--a little more than half the price of a 32GB iPad mini. I have one, and I love it to pieces. The screen is absolutely gorgeous, it has great battery life, games run buttery smooth on it, and since it's a Nexus, you get the latest Android updates as soon as they come out.
What do they mean they quietly released it? It was announced in a conference/keynote so it was pretty publicise.

It depends. Do you like using iOS? That is the main question.

Remember don't just look at specs, it is pretty much irrelevant for an Apple device since low specs is even better than android with the same specs because the software is optimised unlike android which has lots of fragmentation.

If you like android, you could go for the Nexus 7. Play around with the device and see how you feel about it
i'd also add that customer support is also equally, if not more, important than just "good specs" link
if you have a friend with an android device, try it out and see if you like the android experience, then check out the ipad mini in the stores, and decide which you like more.
at the end of the end, it's a matter of preference, so no-one can really tell you which is the better tablet.

Also like 90% of the basil population are really bias toward apple with no justification. I mean if you dislike apple, thats fine but bashing it to others if they get it for no real reason is pretty lame.

Get the Nexus 7 it's better and cheaper.

forgot to add that there's no native support for flac audio files, so you'll have to use an app like imediaplayer, or manually convert your flac files to apple lossless format

that's on 4th gen ipad though. might stutter on prev gen devices
File/video management is horrible on the iOS. You need to jailbreak to access the storage or use slowass iTunes. Android lets you access storage without any mods AND let's you do USB OTG to connect a hard drive.

Videos must be remixed to mp4 while android can play it directly with MXPlayer.

The one thing good about iPad is that it can play 10bit anime. Although I haven't tested it thoroughly.
you can always use iTools, which is 1000x better than iTunes
Videos must be remixed to mp4 - that's completely false. i've played 1080p hi10p mkv files on iPad.

ipad mini 2 is basically the same as ipad air, but with a smaller screen and a cheaper price. it's about the right size for reading ebooks and manga, and the upgraded processor means that you'll be able to watch hq videos (1080p hi10p mkv flac videos) with little to no stutter. i probably don't have to mention the large selection of quality apps in the app store or the gorgeous retina display (awesome for animu). whether it's worth getting an ipad mini as opposed to a competing android device is a matter of preference, really. i'd say try it first the store and decide if you like it or not.

pros
+ customer support
+ large selection of quality app (there's always an app for that)
+ portable (small and light-weight)
+ premium design (it doesn't look cheap)
+ pretty much the same as ipad air, but smaller

cons
- locked into iOS 7 until a jailbreak is released
- no native usb support
- price
- non-removable battery
- itunes (yes, that's a negative)

@iiPandaBoo: Sharing an iPad is not easy. Trust me. Once you get hooked it'll be hard to lend it out, or have it back from your mother. As the name "iPad" states, it's an "i" device, really made for one person for personal twitching and setting up to your taste. If allowing your mother to use it is no problem, then why not? The iPod 4 is really useless, I had one before I got my iPhone 4S and now it's really laggy and slow. I handed the iPhone down to my sister once I left for college but it can run iOS7 nicely. You should read a few reviews on Amazon about the iPad and be sure you really want it and know what it can do. It's not just games and movies. And regarding the DS, I'm 18 and I'm having a lot of fun, more than what I expected. I guess it really depends on everyone's opinion.

@iRideBooty
I'm so done with Nintendo DSes.
Well, I own an iPod Touch 4 (Going to be sold when/if I get the iPad), iPhone 4 and I've have experience with iPads for like 10 minutes since my cousins have them. Like I have internet and stuff, but on random days it goes down for like an hour or two and I have nothing else to do. So I could download like apps like Minecraft and stuff. Like I bought my iPod Touch 4 at the wrong time of the year (the iPod Touch 5 came out like 4 months after.....) and my iPod Touch is just downright slow and it makes me pissed since it's slow and it crashes frequently. For example, if I was loading orangemushroom.wordpress.com on my iPod Touch, it'd crash. Also if I were to get the iPad, I'd share it with my mom since she likes to watch Viet Drama at night and I guess the Retina Display would be nice since old dramas especially Vietnamese ones are a bit fuzzy.

I bought "The New iPad" when it came out for school purposes. I ended up using it more for entertainment more than anything else. I must admit the retina display is very nice, it adds a lot of life to the screen. Watching movies and series on it is pretty satisfying. But then again, other than that what else can you do on it? If you have no internet whatsoever then they're useless. You can download some games and play, but how long can you play on an iPad before your hands get sore and you decide to put it away? If you've never had one, I guess you should go for it, it's a fun piece of technology and sure delivers what's promised. The camera's are not so good, so don't expect much from them. If you have the money and can get it, go for it. I myself, decided to get a 3DS XL for Christmas. Boy, am I happy with my decision!

I say go for it. Reviews seem to agree that iPad Mini w/ Retina is just a smaller iPad Air.

TBH it looks exactly the same as the previous iPad Mini. Retina doesn't
even help, well maybe like 20% better. But like the screen is already
small so it doesn't benefit that much from having retina.
