Mr.Basil should have just kept the thumbs up icon and leave it be. There no reason to have a huge highlight block of chunk there. At first I thought maybe it's a glitch and he's working on it but from reading these comments it seems it's suppose to be there. It's just plain annoying and needs to go back to how it was. If people want to like the post then they will. Don't force people to like the post if they don't want to. Especially when you arn't eligible to even like a post yet.

but yea, it's a bit counterproductive too. if he made it smaller, it would be difficult to locate, since there isn't a trigger for it unless you hover the post, and it being too big is annoying.

the thing about the quote layout is that now, for me to see when the post was, i'd need to hover over the post. the thread could have died 3 years ago and get bumped by some newb, and unless i hover over the last two posts i wouldn't notice the time difference. same if i plan to quote someone to correct him, that conversation could have ended a good while ago and i'd notice when i'm trying to quote him, rather than at a quick glance.

i had to quote you like this, because i dunno if that's an l or an I on your name.
the big blue button is too attention grabbing, now i have to get my cursor out of the way so that my screen doesn't flash me with blue.
with the button being so big, accidentally giving a thumbs up is more probable, and there's no way to take a thumbs up away either.
i liked being able to press a single button to quote/link/whatever someone, now i have to hover to get the option
i can't see if people are online/have been online lately anymore.

those are my main gripes.

[*]I don't mind the like system, but there's absolutely no need to advertise it by covering 3/4ths of the post block. It's intrusive, it covers the BasilID so you can't copy/click, and it's just not in good taste.

[*]If you're trying to advertise the like system, why are you (Mr. B) making the like counter less visible by shrinking the size, turning the color to a neutral gray, and moving it to the top-right corner?

[*]The quote/pm/report icons are now hidden and required to be moused over to use, which is terrible. Why would you make it LESS accessible to people?

[*]When I mouse over to hit the quote button, the giant and intrusive "Good post - thumbs up!" button appears. Why? Again, this was completely unnecessary.

[*]When you accidentally hit the giant and intrusive "Good post - thumbs up!" button (because it's giant and intrusive), there's absolutely no way to unlike that post. I feel like if you were to implement something so giant and intrusive, you'd at least balance it out with an equally giant and intrusive dislike button.

[*]The font of the ONLINE indicator changed. It's honestly out of place, and if anywhere, it should be placed under the like/level/exp indicator.

Absolutely nothing good came from this update; I wonder what was Mr. B's train of though when he was creating this? I certainly hope it wasn't "LEMME MAKE THE WEBSITE LESS APPEALING AND SLIGHTLY MORE ANNOYING TO NAVIGATE," because those are the vibes I'm getting. I've been using Basil for several years, and it seems that the site gets worse every time a new update is implemented.

And people wonder why the site is stagnating.

I can't middle mouse click people's BasilID anymore to open their profile in a new tab . Gotta move to their avatars now #fwp.

I honestly prefer the old version. I find this new version kind of annoying but it's nothing I can't get used to...eventually.
