I realize that I have to Mash my Ctrl Key 3 times to use Dragon Slash to it's max potential.

It's not as bad as you make it out to be. Most of the time, you won't be using it anyway (though I did find that it was quicker to mob everything up and just spam dragon slash in Monster Park. Other than that, I didn't find much of a use for it outside of MP.) You will be using skills like impact wave and pressure chain during grinding.
Giga Slasher will be your primary 1v1 / mobbing attack (in Final Transfiguration) and Blade burst/ Dragon Barrage will be your primary mobbing attack.
I'm guessing you've never played an Aran or Demon Slayer before?

Dragon Smash effects depends on how many times you press the attack button.
