Totally wrong, lol. I'm actually a shareholder...I've seen a lot of info about it.
@AshleyAttacked: The information I've seen released regularly is that GMS is both losing money and players.
@AshleyAttacked: It's dying off in NA. The growth isn't in this region at all. This region is both losing money and players according to the reports. Growth is in china, isn't it?
The information was regarding only GMS.

I don't understand posts like this. The information provided to Nexon's shareholders show that the game is actually growing on average, year to year. They would go to jail if that information was fabricated...so, imo, it's legit and it''s the definitive answer to this question.
The game is growing. Population is just moving to bigger servers...but not quitting the game.
so is it worth it to come back or is the population still declining?
it's always declining
The population has only increased due to summer. Once everyone starts going back to school then the population will start to decline again. The population is not what it use to be but there is still a good amount of people online to keep the game running for a long time. The reason why no one pqs anymore is not because the population is low. It's because there is no incentive to be doing pqs. The rewards for pqing are garbage compared to all the solo content in this game. Yes, it's sad people need some kinda of reward for doing something in this game but that's what Nexon made this game turn into. The community has learned in this game that it's better to do solo content than to do party content due to the fact the solo content is more efficient. Everyone can solo all the bosses now. There is no need for partying and training can basically be solo'd as well. Since everyone has there own mules and can one shot mobs. The extreme p2w in this game had made it that way.
Yes, the population is dying off. That's basically the reason why Nexon decided to do a second merge. If you check out the FM, you'll notice that several FM rooms are not as full as they used to be in the past. Most FM rooms are empty now as compared to always being full in the past. I remember that channel 1 FM always used to be crowded to the point where I couldn't even get in without lagging but now it's obsolete. Same thing with Henesys and Party Quests/DIPQ/Evo World. Most training maps are full of DS hackers and botters. Stronghold isn't as populated as it used to be in the past. Besides during 2x, you can still find empty channels to train at SDH/FDH. If you don't believe me then check out the game yourself.
Y'know after analyzing this for a good while, I've come to the realization that most of the FM isn't full because most people that can sell things that are worthwhile are either A: Quitting B: not finding things worthwhile to sell anymore as the cost of items continually decrease, leaving us with people who are either unwilling to spend nx to buy shops or people who don't really use shops to buy things and sell to their buddy list or their alliance. Of course there are other factors too but the FM really shouldn't be a way to determine the population.
We've had stronghold as a training place for years and people have been turned off from it from KSers the fact that we've had this place for years and it's the main and only place to train from 16x-200+. It's tiring and most people either have 200's or the newer players quit before they even get to 4th job. DIPQ now has 3 ch's to pick from to mitagate the lag slightly so it's not going to be as full as before but it's still very well used, EvoLab on the other hand has been nerfed too hard to be useful to a very large degree and most people no longer choose it.
Yes the reason why we got the merge is because the populations in those servers are very low and they needed to try to increase it even by a little, but the game isn't quite as dead as people keep claiming. The population usually lowers significantly by the time classes start however and it does lower the population significantly, Nexon making all these events to keep players playing isn't a very good tactic for them to use at this time as it takes focus away from more important matters in life.

It has been the same for the past year... Go check yourself.
Scania server is pretty full during a 2x event, all the colorful indication server bars are almost full.
In bera the population incrassed compared to 3(even more) months ago when the meso rate was 1:4(now its arround1:9 more than double) and the fm was out of items(I got more examples)!
You guys just love to talk about how maple is dying when the game is actually alive...
If any of these people actually checked out other games...they'll realize just how much more alive Maple is. It's doing very well..and not likely to die.
Yeah, everything I've seen and heard indicates that Scania and Windia are getting a big influx of players from other worlds...and thus our populations are rising noticeably.
yea in a way its good but in another way it kinda really sucks cuz i have to get to these places super early
um i would say its increasing, i find more and more people these days in training spots harder for me to find a free channel during 2x

As opposed to figuratively not funny?
How does the word literally even fit in there?
RIP English.
That's called conversational English and there's nothing incorrect about it. Just because a phrase doesn't fit in with Oxford English...doesn't mean it's wrong. Language is a moving target that is always evolving and changing. They actually theorize that the modern American accent is what the English accent was in the 1700s. Basically...language changes and conversational English is defined and used different than standardized English, used primarily in writing.

can you not? you literally have no idea what you're talking about. thanks.

According to info released to Nexon's shareholders...which, if based on lies or manipulation, would be illegal...resulting in jail time and a prison sentence...according to that info the population has steadily been increasing. The 'die off in population' is only the result of players sifting out of less populated worlds and joining worlds like Scania and Windia, etc. Scania feels full...noticeably moreso than 2 years ago. I've never played in a single world other than Scania...and I've played daily since 2005. Like I said...Scania feels full and like its growing.
no, the population is stabilizing
Log in and check for yourself.. You dimwit o.o

Yes this because the number of players you see is representative of the total population.

Imo, it's still declining.. But I haven't been active to care.
I've sold all my equips so I don't want to spend money to buy new equips if the population is even lower than what it was when I quit.
Then log in and check the population yourself?
How about you log in, see if you're having fun and then decide?

yes they will soon merge all the worlds, and eventually we will merge with kms
and soon... maple will merge with other games
The population always dies out, it's just how life works. If you wanna come back then that's the only means of increasing population, inviting friends to join is the same. Asking about it and leaving does no justice.
so is it worth it to come back or is the population still declining?

It's gotten better from what I'm seeing in ch 1 henesys, but not the FM
