@kevqn: because 700+ episodes of anything is a hard drudge to swim through, especially since it's ripe with filler arcs and flavor-of-the-week characters.
I said he could skip if he wanted to. There wouldn't be too many gaps that can't be filled by the wiki.
one piece is fantastic (as a manga)
have not seen gintama
@mizuichan: That makes no sense at all, why would he skip the majority of the series and miss out on meeting every character
Depends on your tastes.
If you prefer Action Anime: One Piece
If you prefer Comedy Anime: Gintama
One Piece, but you can start at the time skip after watching the first few episodes ifyawanna.
One Punch too since it's pretty short and funnyactiony~
Oh god have you guys seen the recent One Piece episodes?? There was freakin 10 episodes for just Luffy vs Domingo. It was painful to watch each episode for that arc. But, besides the pacing, One Piece is a good story and great character development.
Gintama, I remember watching and stopped after a few episodes. It was because the story was all over the place. It seemed like they were just doing gags of other animes, which probably would be funny if I knew alot of anime.
Haven't seen Gintama but I've heard great things about it and it's on my list after Naruto and DBZ. One Piece has honestly my favorite character development out of any series. The show/manga isn't about building a story but rather building an entire world that you become familiar with. Oda is also an incredible writer and has boggled my mind a good amount of times. The biggest issue with One Piece is the pacing. Things become dragged out so that the anime doesn't catch up with the manga.
There is also a fan cut version called One Pace which cuts out all the fillers and pointless scenes. But I've never watched it so I don't know how good it is.
You won't regret watching Gintama.
Of the two, I've only seen One Piece and it was reasonably enjoyable, though a lot of the arcs went on way too long. If you watch, make sure to skip the filler episodes http://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/one-piece
Why not both ?
Honestly though ( probs gonna get the hate for this) they both are great series.
If you wanna watch the development and the bond of a crew of pirates develop, mature(not really), face challenges and feel as if you were part of the crew, go for it !
If you wanna kick back, watch some intense fights 1/10th of the time, enjoy a good kick to the stomache show, Go for it.
In your shoe, i'd happily marathon both again.
