MapleStory memory usage excessively high

Everytime I keep MS running for a while the memory for MapleStory.exe goes up to 1,000,000+k. It happens always and recently it's come to the point where when it's memory is high it shuts down automatically. I never have this problem with any other game. Does this happen with anyone else?

You know what's causing overheating? Poor air circulation. I shouldn't even be arguing with kids here, I'm too old for this.
@nhan1st: Its not a memory issue thats causing lag, its overheating. Now u hush.
Let's see, no where in this thread does OP mention about his system overheating. He specifically talked about memory problems. Hush.

@krazyvi3tz I'm not going to deny that there's other factors, but OP hasn't mentioned about his computer's spec so I can't assume he's in the condition you're in. I just go with what he tells me, where MS is taking 1GB ram.

@Judg3m3nt @Blaindi He's complaining about memory issue. Unless you @Judg3m3nt can come up with a better explanation why the excessive memory causes problems, then hush.

Well you never told us how much memory you have...

Maybe you have borderline enough memory?

In addition to all the above, the core software of the game was coded like 10 years ago and has been "band-aid" patched over and over so many times it's a wonder it still runs at all. Every time a new hack, dupe, exploit or whatever happens, Nexon has to go in and "kludge" some code in on top of whatever is there already to prevent the new cheats. Over time this leads to horrible stability and the incredible random lag that plagues most people.

The only thing that will cure all these problems would be a total re-write of the game code, and Nexon isn't about to pay anyone to do that for a 10 year old game.

Badly coded game client, which results in memory leaks everywhere and the system needing more resources. Plus the client isnt fully compatible with 64 bit OS yet, which gives it even more trouble.

The sound card & graphics card are on the motherboard which causes
the system to heat up. Most, if not almost all, laptops have shoddy fans
which do little to dissipate heat. Add to this the fact that laptops are
mostly sat on flat surfaces despite the intakes being on the bottom,
you'll notice that the system isn't getting much cool air into it thus
doesn't cool the system quite as effectively.

There's a new cash shop item coming out that when purchased, reduces your MapleStory CPU usage for 90 days.

1,000,000k+? Dang- The highest I reach is 250,000k, usually around 125,000-150,000.

My computer doesn't overheat or shut down. MapleStory is the only thing that crashes, nothing else. It's not my internet connection, it's MapleStory crashing because of the memory being too high. Nothing goes to 1,000,000+k memory usage except for MapleStory, so, it's not a virus. It's a MS problem. My PC is built for gaming, so, that's not a problem either.

At this point, most computers are at 1TB hard drives and 8G+ ram. There shouldn't be a problem running MS.

Poor optimization.

It doesn't like integrated chip-sets for one.
For seconds it doesn't like any kind of laptop graphics cards it seems. Even dedicated GPU's that play games running more powerful engines.
Third being that in general your computer will be hit or miss with this game. Which honestly is a big issue and is probably driving players away at an equal rate to the pay-to-beat all content issue.
