Icelightningarchmage

I am a starting i/l mage and I need advice

I am intending to make a i/l mage and it'll be my first magician. I won't be seeking to main it but I found them fun. Since I am tight on mesos I am hoping to buy the pinnacle set instead of the Dragon Tail set. Is it a worthy substitute? or is there a better way of doing more damage. I also welcome other advice in how to play decently with my i/l mage.

Elemental staff 8 is better for the long run
omfg, i just bought a e-staff 7 for 110 mil. The only e staff 8 is around 300-350 mil.
The only diff is one is 10% lightning bonus, 5% ice, and the other is 10% ice 5% lightning.

Will you really notice 5%?
@BaconMmm Why e-staff 8 and not e-staff7?
8 is for lightning (CL) and 7 is for ice (Glacier Chain) GC after RED is moved to 3rd job, and loses the hypers iirc.

It seems like the Dragon tail set, especially the shoulder have sky-rocked in value.
Grab an Ele 8 Staff while they are still cheap.

Pinnacle set is a cheap(ish) alternative to see if you like the class with a little bit of a buff in damage.
You could do the alternate route of buying a few decent %int items that don't become untradable after equipping, and if you don't enjoy it as much you can sell them back.

My I/L has the tempest set, and it's practically the same thing with different colors. I think it's a pretty good set, and if it's not your main, it'll do. Maybe get some with % INT on it if anything, but that might not even be necessary.
