I need help on a phyics question:

A jar is falling from a 50 feet tower to the ground at 6.4m/s and a ball is in the air for 9 seconds and accelerates at 0.44km/hour. What object will hit the ground first? By how many milliseconds?

The first thing you need to do is convert all the units correctly. Units of physics are kg m s. Next step is to just set up the equation. for the jar, the equation you would use is y=vt+1/2at^2. for the ball, you would use y= 1/2at^2. The problem i see right now is that your acceleration for the ball is incorrect. Unit of acceleration is distance per time squared

Edit: I totally misread the post. If you're simple looking for which one lands first, then you only need to calculate the time for the jar. use y=vt. 50=6.4t+1/2at^2 Once you get t, compare it with 9. I don't even think the ball's acceleration is necessary since it gave u the time
