Can you unequip a boss soul and still have the soul slot?
I just got 10 Hilla Shards and changed it one Hilla soul but it's a sift hilla soul... Which is dex +15 which isn't something I need. But my question is if I equip this soul on my weapon (Because I don't have another soul, but I am going to continue to collect hilla shards until I obtain a decent one) can I unequip it and still have the slot so that I can equip my future new boss soul?

If you use the NPC to remove the Soul it will do that and also delete the soul effect. You'll then have to get another shard 30%,60% or 100%. Just put the soul shard in your book or sell the service or put in on another weapon. Or simply use it on your current weapon by dragging it there, then put a better soul once you get it.
You don't need to remove the soul, you can just wait til you get a new one then scroll it on top. It'll replace the current one you have.

You cannot remove the soul from the equip. But you can replace the soul by using another soul on it.

If it's UT just equip anyway. I was suggesting you sell it off in FM.
Just look for the soul researcher person, i'm certain there's one in orbis and heneseys and then select the dialogue option that lets you unequip.
@Giegue Oooh so there's an npc in a lot of the towns? And are they supposed to be able to sell them because mine is untradeable...
You can if you go through the soul weapon npc in most towns, It destroys the orb but gives you back the slot.
I would just say sell it off to somebody who could use the dex and just keep doing Hillia. Secondary +15 usually boosts your range by about +4 depending on how much %luck you have.
