I have a similar problem. I bought a really good desktop a few months ago (sometime around December), and have not been able to play MS at all. For the longest time I thought it was because of Windows 8, but I just got a new laptop like a week ago and it runs MS just fine on Windows 8. A few months ago, MS would run up to the HackShield then give me and error code. Now, MS just runs as a background app. Once I double click the gamelauncher.exe or hit PLAY on the nexon homepage, I get the little loading circle beside my cursor for like 3 seconds and that is all. I start up my Task Manager and see MS running as a background app, consuming about 15% CPU usage. I download and redownload MS every other day, and nothing helps. I have uninstalled my Norton, and still nothing. I cant install steam because I live in Puerto Rico, and Steam refuses to give me access, because I am outside of the permitted region. Any help would be appreciated. =)

I found a solution for that Hackshield thing, at least it worked for me. Just change browsers.

I think the maple website posted the solution to that issue

@mRebirth Well, after reinstall and everything still no luck. VMware is backing up everyonce and awhile so I will restore to a backup before the patch and start from there

Actually, I personally think Nexon will not be solving this, because they do not advice the use of virtual machines, since hackers use it to their advantage...
So now we have to find a way to make it work! xD

@mRebirth I am using VMWareFusion. As much as i don't wanna do that, i am going to redownload the patcher and do a full reinstall. I deleted everything i had nexon related and still no luck. I wish nexon would also be active in solving this

What parallels version are you using?
I'm deciding whether my version is just too outdated, so hack shield is able to detect it....
Redownload it and tell me if it works :O

@mRebirth Reformat means you pretty much wipe everything, i would use this as a last resort

well, i guess i have to delete everything nexon related. should i redownload the patcher?

You can choose, but stuff like temporary files, cleaning up the registry, etc. I don't think CCleaner will anything for your issue though.

Iono if this will work for u, but it worked for my friend.

He uninstalled maplestory, deleted the maplestory folder and then ran Ccleaner and the registry cleaner in Cclaner 2 times and fixed all the stuff that came up.

The he re-installed it and it worked somehow o_O

Duno if you wana try that, might not be safe (heard ppl saying the registry cleaner messes up some stuff for some people, I never had that problem and use it often though)

Well, my maple ain't working T~T

Try changing the compatibility for Maplestory.exe.
Also, try running Maplestory on another user account.

I'm not using any anti virus programs

Make sure your anti virus program is allowing maplestory
