The face looks a little wonky and the body could be more proportioned (head too big for body) but i still think it looks good The coloring looks pretty great! Keep working on it.
i get that you don't think it's that great and there's some criticism to be made about it but defending and bashing is getting a little too hostile and brutal ; ^ ;
the proportions and coloring could use a little work and cleaning up but like you said he's an amateur who only does art now and again, we all start somewhere! for the artist don't take it so personally getting hate from others about your art, starting off as an artist and showing your work to people will be hard and this is one of the first hurdles you have to get over! it's not worth getting dejected because someone doesn't like your art, put it behind you and move on. once you can get over that you'll start getting better tbh, art's partially a mindset ; w ; besides if you ever need help or youre afraid to post you can always ask your friends for feedback beforehand, always good to help out other artists

I do see how it looks like the character and I don't think it's as bad as people are acting. o.o It's a nice drawing. All artists get better over time with practice. Keep it up
Wow, Basil hasn't changed at all. Instead of trying to discourage him, why not suggest improvements in a civil manner? Nothing is gained by putting others down.

don't do it man, especially not this screen. She's not worth it, she loves the attention that you guys give her because it allows her to drop snide comments about you/your grammar, etc. In fact, on this screen, criticism is fine because no offense to the artist or anything, but he seems like an amateur (which isn't a bad thing) and has a lot to learn.
You may need to give depth for the separation point of the sleeve and vest. Your shading is too light. The person should have that somewhat 3D effect if you darken the shading a bit. The body looks rectangular, but I'm not sure if that was intended O3O Great drawing The clothes have no wrinkles! I'm so jealous.
