Marksman

A Tempest is brewing in the Guide

I'm back, fellow Marksmen. And as such, I am preparing (mostly on my Droid, using Quickoffice) an extensive overhaul to the guide. I'm still getting back in sync with the state of the game, and I could use some help. If anyone knows of any important glitches, new training spots (I'm fairly knowledgeable up to Renegades or so) and anything else I should know for the guide, please let me know and I will give you credit at the end!
Thanks, and happy Mapling!

P.S. I am actually not playing my marksman much, so contact me on my shadower ingame if you need to get a hold of me live.

Maybe you can put into your guide that snipe has a few more sec CD because of sever lag and that it varies from player to player ?

I know it takes a while to master but you can snipe the master chronos out of range just not the boss.
Jump strafe doesn't release strafe higher though the last too many times I tested. Care to explain?
you jump strafe back to avoid his attack range otherwise you are within rage of his mega knock back spell. Then jump forward to set yourself up to jump strafe back again between his attacks. I mean I guess you could strafe then jump away but way way long time ago when timer first came out I had a really hard time pulling this off and found jump strafing back easier to help avoid getting hit.

If I can make a recommendation. Straw target dummies and wooden target dummies are an amazing place to train from around 60-80. The first map with straw target dummies is absolutely flat with great spawn rate and the others have 2 or 3 flat platforms. It also transitions you well into captains and kru because you are in the area and by the time they stop being efficient experience you can go to red nose pirate den 3 and snipe kru with arrow eruption till you can take on captains in the mini-dungeon. Whenever a class comes out whose link skill I want I make it a point to train at straw target dummies as it is easy, fast, and worry free since they have next to no damage and no spells to hurt you with.

Other useful edits: Potion efficiency)
these maps in particular allow you to stand outside of range of enemy attacks while being in a good place to farm them:
-cloud terrace 5 (toy trojans)
-lab area c-2 (roid & neo humanoid)
-lab area c-1 (roid only)
-lost time 4 (master chronos & timer) note here you can't snipe the boss timer easily unless you jump strafe
-ghost ship 5 (selkie jr)
-ghost ship 6 (mr. anchors)
-red nose pirate den 3 (captains & kru)

these aren't ideal for sniping mobs unless you share the map otherwise prepare to get hit
-mysterious path 3 (selkie jr & slimy)
-unbalanced time (dual ghost pirates)
Builds are my top priorities, and the 1st and 2nd job builds are well underway. Behind the scenes peek: a lot of the stuff in the current guide is old from @Fcroaonlk's version, and my major time-consuming activity now is replacing the old. The build are relatively easy, but I want to bring the guide back to what it was meant for: comprehensive skill guides with numbers to back it up. @Fcroaonlk's guide had lots of said math in it, but that is now outdated; I would like to bring that into the modern era before adding new sections like equips and such.

Plus, Quickoffice can be stupid sometimes; no arrow-key text navigation, can only backspace one letter at a time... I've literally blown off 3 hours of classes to work on the guide, but hey, it's Christmas and I ain't doing jack in school.
A lot of the calculations in the guide really aren't needed anymore. The only thing worth calculating is when to use Snipe + Pierce. and even that has already been done on such a comprehensive level that buff delays, weapon speeds and PDR is taken into account. Repeating the same calculations with less detail would be redundant.

A streamlined version would be awesome though. But that will only take minutes to complete considering how straightforward things are now And in terms of usefulness... most people take what they read for granted anyway.

If there's a problem with your build, someone will point it out. I don't thind the actual readers need to know why the choices were made outside of the build explanation (I think "Pierce is a better mob skill than Blizzard" is enough as opposed to "Pierce does <insert table> and Blizzard does <insert table>, therefore add points into Pierce&quot. Though it may benefit. It's a guide, after all, I think what's important is being able to guide aspiring MMs to the best of your ability in ALL the different areas of the game.

But, again, by all means, do it first. I don't think it should be your first priority, but it only takes a few minutes like I already said

School? I'm on a 5-week Christmas holiday from school

I think you're having no problem with the AP build (all DEX), SP build, non-UE vs UE (UE sucks) or glitches (old ones are gone, there is still a Concentrate one).

For what the MM community should brainstorm: training spots (could add what skills work best in certain maps), lingo (refined, updated and expanded) and FAQ (more extensive). You could also include new sections like mastery/skill book info and where to get MMBs, job advancement guide and character control guide.
