Amount of Demon Slayer bots are crazy.

I was attempting to do my job advancement that requires getting a bunch of surgeon tails, but that is quite impossible because every map and channel with surgeon eyes has around 2-4 bots.

Like please.. do something. It's so obvious they're botting.

Edit: Title is grammatically incorrect, sorry!

You literally cannot complete quests involving certain maps--Kerning subway tunnels, Perion mountains, Edelstein mines, Magatia labs, etc.--because of those Demon Slayer and occasionally Blaze Wizard hackers populating all of them on every channel. -_-

Oh my... I see them everywhere too. I've also seen a couple Blaze Wizards, I think. But they had proper equips etc compared to the newbie outfit. This was in NLC (first map from the city and the one with the Wolf Spiders) They cast this fire-like spell circle or something and drag monsters from all over the map towards themselves. Plus side is that they don't pick up the drops so that provides easy cash for passersby. Yesterday, I believe I saw a Kanna with a scrambled name in Ludi. A few years back I think it was BaMs who were doing the botting but I don't know what happened to them. I've reported a few but have given up due to the sheer amount.
However, they do have a plus side like ignoring beauty coupon drops and helping with monster kills for quests. If you have a FP, cover the whole map in poison mist and let the bot do the killing for you. BTW, this is so much fun, plus you get the drops as well. Annoying part is that you constantly have to recast the mist every round you make across the map. It's great to have this kind of help when you play alone and an NPC tells you to kill about 500 monsters.
Though I really wish Nexon would get rid of them. It's difficult to compete with them if you play a class other than a FP or prefer not to use the mist.

Oh, I have one more story~ Once in Orbis tower I saw a DS bot who was stuck/broken. He was just teleporting up and down the map without killing anything. Probably in one of the Sentinel maps (small white version). This was when I used to report them but avoided this one as it wasn't doing any harm + it amused me.

They really need to add a deputy system in the game so that ordinary players can help combat these bots. Maybe have it so that certain players who meet certain requirements (minimum three year old account, free of any form of bans of said account, as well as a long form application when applying) before they are allowed to wield the title and responsibility. I probably pass by well over 500 or more bots on a daily basis and it's too time consuming to send in report tickets on the support section of the Maplestory website, so most of these go unscathed until they are eventually banned, and even if I send a ticket, it would probably take well over a month before any action is taken.

Majority of the time these bots get what they were looking for long before they get the ban hammer, so it's essentially a losing game for legitimate players and the company as a whole, so until some innovation and further steps are taken to change our current situation, then it's only going to get worse. Botters make the scrolls cheaper, clean end-game equips get cheaper, people scroll them and sell them to the lower class players and the cycle compounds until you need more overpowered content to mask the real problems.

This is lot for me to say and it's one of many things that's bringing this game to a close, but I'm one of many who want it to keep going. Look at what happened to Gunz: The Duel, an amazing game, well, it got replaced by a second revamped version and the first one is non-existent now, and I have a feeling that's going to happen to this game in the next 3-5 years, at least for the Global version of this game, and trust me, I've always been the optimist and for me to say this game is dying, that says a lot.

@Sammi: Yes that is all very true. I guess I was just looking at it from one side. The issue is that they will never go away though, so there's no real reason to worry about it.

That would also make the game even more pay to win at the end of the day anyway. Because then mesos would be more expensive, perfected/good items would be more expensive, and still no way to really capitalize on that. They are changing the way elite boss farming is going to be done sometime in the future, so I hope that helps.

It is usually the same person who controls all the bots. If a GM were to cc around on the same map they could easily find that all the bots come from the same IP. unfortunately, if they IP ban someone its a simple call to their provider to get a new one. They need to upgrade their system to detect bots more easily not to manually ban each individual botter

@PineSawl: Inconvenient for buyers, but good for sellers. Let's not forget about the sellers; think of how much it would help poor players if they got something from an Elite boss. Also botters pump in a lot of mesos into the market creating inflation, making mesos worthless.

Easily accessible things =/= good for the game in my opinion. There are a lot less valuable things in the market, and it's a lot harder to make mesos.

@Sammi: That's very debatable lol. Clean slates, epic pots, innos, cubes. All those prices become very inconvenient to buyers if they're gone. Plus you can never get rid of them, they've been here since beta.
