Give me your definition of quotover-poweredquot

and when the act of being "over-powered" becomes a problem, if you feel that it even is a problem in the first place; if you don't feel that it is a problem, say why. To me, it seems that although the scope remains generally the same, people seem to have their own interpretations and opinions regarding the term. Do you feel that it is a problem? Do you feel that there are some sort of misconceptions people have about the term? Are there some certain, specific guidelines that need to be met for it to be applied? I'm rather curious.

I know that there is an on-going thread about this right now, but I felt like this was slightly different, and I didn't want to start a whole different discussion on that thread.

It depends, as long as Its not some "Failed Bleach OverPowered Fail" like that whiney Orihime or whats-her-name.. >_&gt For those not reading or watching Bleach anymore (Such as myself~) Please do not read this because it can contain spoilers below!
Orihime has an ability to alter time itself. Her healing abilities "rejects, reverses, and reconstructs phenomena that have occurred, even phenomena that Orihime hasn't witnessed". So for short the Author got the worst idea in Anime/Manga history. Creating a time altering character. For those who can't predict how friggin overpowered this is; think of it yourself. "Oh no, Ichigo loses his arm!" *Goes up to alter time and -plop- Ichigo has his arm back!* "Oh no, Ichigo got hit by an strong attack and blown in parts!" *Orihime goes up and Alters time and -plop- Ichigo is back and ready to fight!*

If you still can't see how Overpowered and extremely boring this is for an Shounen anime/manga then you seriously try to protect the series and not the fact that the Author isn't very good at developing things together. o3o)

But then again; Theres many defintions of "Overpowered"

As long as the OP doesn't break that world's rules, it's a okay. DBZ is a good example of that.

I didn't exactly mean pick random characters that are super powerful, but rather what you guys feel makes a character in general overpowered story-wise. Also it doesn't really matter if the world is different from ours; I believe that sort of thing should be judged by that particular world's standards, and not ours.

I don't really think overpowered can actually be taken into account in the anime world because the logic of those worlds is far different from ours and from one to another, for exemple in dragon ball z being able to destroy planets is almost considered the norm for being strong and even at that point some weak characters if not most of them could destroy a planet, but in bleach it's having a huge amount of reiatsu and access to bankai, while in magi either being a mage/magi or having a full djinn equip would be strong, as I was saying there is no real overpowered it's all really subjective to a person
