Why do F/p and I/l mages exist

I mean nexon just slapped two elements together and created mutant classes.

"hey we need a mage class let's take 2 random elements and put them in a class! fire and poison? AWESOME! ICE AND LIGHTNING? aMaZiNg!"

Fire and Poison can often go hand in hand in different types of destruction and/or injuries.
Ice and Lightning can often go hand in hand in major storms.
They seem fine to me.

F/P and I/L are the most unique classes in this game. Just about every other class has been copied or directly inspired from the classes of other games.

It's one of the few original ideas the developers had. That's what makes them awesome.

I always thought of I/L as the "storm" mage, i.e. blizzards and electrical storms. F/P is a bit more stretched, but I think of fire and the carbon monoxide produced from combustion.

Personally I think it would be a much better idea if Nexon just put the 2 groups together maybe form like an ult-sorcceror combining all the the skills to give player kinda like giving players a diverse amount of skill they can use to see which one fits best kinda like beast tamer? or have a (3 swap system like the hybrid class to choose between fire ice and holy.) seems more legit then to have 3 separate classes

I honestly think class-wise mage's concepts are the weakest.
We practically have three elementalists (Evan can be considered one due to all of his elemental skills.)
Two "dark" mages. (Battle Mage and Luminous.)
And a holy trinity.

There isn't much variation there at all.

Fire poison fits perfectly. Ever been in a building that was on fire? Why did they teach you in school? If there's a fire and there's smoke everywhere, get down because the smoke is toxic to our lungs.

Hence, fire poison.

Well poisons, some toxic fumes, are combustable with fire. So for skills like Mist eruption, this makes sense.and f/p being a DoT class it makes sense because when you're burned ot hurts over time just like having poison on yoir blood stream hurts over time.

Ice/Lightning is a bit harder to put together for me atleast. But like some one said these elements are a big thing in other games/stories.

Ice lightning seems to fit in fine but fire poison.. Well... That one was probably a last minute decision...

Here in north eastern North America in the winter we get thunder snow pretty often. They can come in nor'easters.

Fire vs. Ice is a common theme in many games, books, etc. Not sure how Poison or Lightning fit in... maybe they represent Earth and Air respectively?

well you can count the carbon dioxide as a poison but it's a little far fetched

and maybe a hailstorm? not much lightning involved in that either though
