1h sword versus 2h sword
I'm thinking of making a future Paladin or Hero and was wondering which would be better in the long run (post red).
1 handed sword with attack shield or 2 handed sword with secondary equip

No; especially given that shield can now have % boss on it and given the multiplier of a 2 h is just better

As of now it's not as difficult to reach max attack speed so the attack difference between 1H and 2H swords wouldn't matter as much.
Post RED, Rosaries would work the same way as shields do on Paladins, and it's possible to equip 2H swords along with the secondary weapons, so you wouldn't be losing out on much.
Because 2H swords have a higher attack multiplier, it's generally a much better idea to go with a 2H sword + secondary weapon, unless for some reason your shield was somehow scrolled for a bizarre amount of attack.
2h is usually better unless your shield is REALLY good.
