Just got a new laptop from boxing day, was it a mistake?

http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/hewlett-packard-hp-2000-15-6-laptop-black-amd-e1-2500-320gb-hdd-4gb-ram-windows-8-2000-2d28ca/10272038.aspx?path=67a1875f93f7bcfb5e51fb42348095e4en02&SearchPageIndex=1

So, yeah I just brought this laptop from Best Buy today for $299 (cheapest laptop they had on sale) and it has windows 8, 4 gigs of ram (3.5 actually), 15.6 inch screen, AMD E1 processor, AMD Radeon HD 8240 graphics card, and 320 GB.

I wanted to get the $399 HP laptop with 8 gigs of ram and overall better specs but it was sold out . So this has to do.

So, I'm wondering is this laptop have decent specs? I know it cant play high end games like gta 5 but i'm just wondering if this last me for awhile. Thanks in advance.

If you wanted to play GTA 5, you should have bought a console.

I have to agree with Jekuto, if you wanted a better laptop, you should have looked for a better one, unless you urgently needed one.

Ignoring how bad the other specs are, I have to point out that it's 1366x768 on a 15.6" display. This laptop is terrible and you should return it. If you want a laptop that lasts, stop being so cheap and buy one that's at least future-proofed for the next 3 months.

Also, let me point out everything else:
-1366x768 is NOT a proper resolution, nor should it be considered for any laptop/netbook >11 inches.
-The glossy plastic body will smudge and collect fingerprints.
-Low-capacity HDD
-It's also a sluggish 5,400RPM HDD.
-Incredibly low-end processor. You won't even be able to play a game like LoL on high.
-Terrible graphics card that isn't going to play any modern game, not even on a lowered resolution
-1x1 b/g/n WiFi cards should be outlawed in this day and age.
-Can't even watch 1080p videos/movies without lag and stutter, though the display doesn't support 1080p to begin with.
-No Bluetooth
-No USB 3.0 port
-Heavy and thick
-No driver support
-2,200mAh battery that won't last more than a few hours.
-HP bloatware

Unless if all you plan on doing is typing essays and Facebook-ing on your laptop for however long you plan on keeping it, it's terrible and you should return it as soon as the after-Christmas rush is over. I know money is tight, but you're better off splurging $600+ for a decent laptop.

One big turn off for me is not having the number pad on the side. </3
You should be able to play CoDGhost on low settings on it.
But you can double check on systemrequirementslab.com to make sure.

the laptop will be slower than, say an intel i3 clocked at 1.3? GHz because intel has more instructions per clock
however, this will be fine if you use it like a chromebook
my friend has a similar spec'cd one, it can't run league doe

You should have held on to your money. Obviously you had $400+ so you could have gone to other stores during the Boxing week sales.

The GFX card is decent. It's between Intel's and Intel's HD graphics card. Most games should be able to run, MapleStory will definitely run. However the processor might not be as good considering it's at 1.4GHz. Games like, Guild Wars for example, maybe WoW might run smoothly with medium settings.

In my opinion, that specific laptop with that kind of specs is more directed towards a casual user whom uses social media, watch videos, and other recreational activities. I think you can also run online games like RS, MS, and league fine but not the high demanding games like you mention as those required 8 gigs of ram to run smoothly and a decent processor. In terms of longevity, that laptop will last a good 5 years if you take care of it well. Overall, it's a okay laptop for the casual user but not for underground user who plays high-detail games, torrent movies, and basically the heavy duty stuff.
