A Question about Cats
So, my 10 month old kitten has a case of the fleas, and I'd like to get them off her as quickly and efficiently as possible. I've already used some Advantage on the back of her neck, and we're planning to bug bomb. I've started brushing her daily with a nit comb normally used for lice, and I've picked up multiple fleas and many nits so far.
I know for a fact that this probably won't be enough to get rid of them (Fleas LOVE to stick around) so, to any of you cat owners out there, what would you guys reccomend?
Thanks for any help y'all can give.

i would say, spray the house with flea spray to make sure they die. Then if your cat will take baths then you could give it a flea bath or take it to the shop and get the fleas removed
If you keep on doing what you're doing, you should be able to get rid of them eventually.
But, I'm pretty sure they make a flea shampoo for cats, so you could try that if your cat seems like it would be up for it.
Well I am sure you can assume it isn't an immediate process. Here is what I suggest, one day when the weather is nice, grab ahold of kitty and wash her with flea shampoo. It pretty much destroys any fleas that were there. In the mean time, have someone else spray your house to get the fleas out of there (one floor at a time), because I assume that you kitty has been indoor since it picked up those critters. If you don't spray you guys will be itchin a ton too, and trust me it isnt fun </3 Once that is finished up, you should have a wet cat and a house filled with dangerous fumes. It is suggested that you get out of the house for a few hours while you get the fumes out, however; since you got wet kitty you can stay indoors as long as the fumes do get to you.
Once you have a clean area, keep your clean kitty there. Fleas come from outside, and I can't stress enough how easy it is for your cat to pick up by letting him/her/it outside. Slowly get every room of your house sprayed so your house is clean again. Continue combing for fleas and nits, and when ever you do find them make sure you kill them by either squishing them till you hear a popping sound or submerging them in hot water. After the bath your kitty should be flea free, but will continue to scratch for a bit, just make she she doesn't have bugs.
When she is dried thats when you put on flea meds on her neck and stuff. Until summer is over, try to keep her indoors from now on, fleas usually disappear around mid october-november (in kansas). I noticed that you said baths don't work... I don't know what shapmoo my mom used, it was yellow in color and thats all I know. I would ask my mom, but since our cat passed a while back, that's only asking for trouble </3 sorry
Eh well roomie kept taking his cat with him to other people so the cat probably got fleas from some other animal that played outside - which then infected our cat....
From what I remember we washed her with flea shampoo stuff and put some anti flea powder on the carpet and then left for vacation. Problem was pretty much solved afterwards from what I remember...
Edit: All I remember is that the shampoo had berry scent (or berry-cocos, I forgot)... got it from PetSmart methinks...
@Pwnagewafflez My mom bought this certain kind but i can't remember the name of it... sorry
@Noble Thanks, I'll look it up.
@xFinalSorax Do you know a good brand of shampoo? Oh, and I've tried flea collars on my old cat, none worked either.
Buy some shampoo treatment if you can
find some anywhere and a flea collar would come in handy as well...
That could hold them off until you lazy father makes an appointment
@Kalemora I had a cat before this one and tried a LOT of flea baths. None of them worked, so I'm looking for personal reccomendations.
@lastman28 My parents won't let me shave her because they say it'll discolor her coat when it grows back.
Shave it.
Post a picture of your cat and we'll be able to give a better assessment.
... no, don't actually do that, that was a lie. I just want to look at pictures of cats.
Vet's not an option at the moment. She still needs to be spayed and my dad's too lazy to schedule an appointment.
My neighbor's cat just died. So did his mom. :c Still need some flea treatments though, she's leaving flea dirt everywhere -3-
My old algebra teacher has 9 cats. She came to school one day crying because 1 of her cats died. She wasn't a very good algebra teacher.
