Grammarnazi Rage Lesson

Your and you're. There's a difference, and every single time I see someone using the wrong form, it makes me so mad.

Because I'm so fed up with it, Basil is getting a little grammar lesson.

We were supposed to learn this stuff in fourth grade, so for those of you who forgot:
Your = Possessive. You use this for when you're talking about something someone has. Correct: "Your grammar is terrible." Incorrect: "I think your an idiot."
You're = Contraction for "You are." If you can't say "You are" in place of this, something is wrong. Correct: "You're still reading this? WHOA." Incorrect: "Give me you're number for still reading this thread."
Fourth. Grade. Grammar.

In a topic dedicated to good grammar, wouldn't it be a better idea to display more grammar mistakes than mistakes in spelling/capitalization/punctuation?

@Quote He's just joking. When I made this thread, I expected this to happen anyway. No real harm done.

People write like this on essays and reports as well. It's not just the internet.

I just decided to talk about your/you're because that's what I see most often. The others piss me off as well. People seem to have forgotten how to English.

I have to admit, 'affect' and 'effect' irritate me a bit .

You should be a teacher. You could raise your own little grammarnazi army.

Everyone who can type coherent English is probably aware of the difference between the two homonyms.

I don't think any number of grammar lessons is going to change their willing ignorance of the fact.

Thank you. I hate it when people misspell that too. >.<

There's no 'A' in "Definitely" because if you spell it with an 'A' then you're definitely an "A"-hole.

I honestly use that to remember how to spell Definitely.
