Americans - Black Friday starting Thursday night this year

I keep seeing commercials about how all the stores are starting their Black Friday sales in the evening on Thanksgiving.
Isn't this a bit much..? Isn't Thanksgiving supposed to be about giving thanks and not buying things? </3
Anyway, I'd like to know your guys' thoughts on this.

well holiday shopping is dumb, esp. black friday and the whole history of crazy stuff that goes with it
it's also really really really crappy that retail workers/other workers are basically all required to work on thanksgiving due to stuff like this. there are already very few days that stores are closed, having major holidays be taken up by bs corporate greed is ridiculous. if they wanted those sales so bad it's not terrible to do a ridiculous two-day sale (that's basically what black friday is now) not centered around major holidays.

Black "Friday" should either start on the day before or after Thanksgiving.

Never on it.

@Spellbooks: I don't celebrate Thanksgiving and I don't do Black Friday.

If I remember correctly, they started sales on Thanksgiving week last year too.
I don't go out for it and I could care less honestly xD I don't really want anything atm.
