Can't believe no one mentioned Bakemonogatari.. It's one of the most amazing animes ever, visually and story wise. Also, Toradora is also good if you're a fan of slice-of-life and I personally think it had a better romance story than Maid-sama. If you're a horror fanatic I recommend Shiki and Another. Higurashi is also pretty good, if you can deal with the cheesy animation. If you want tear jerkers, you should watch Ef- A tale of memories, Ano Hana and Clannad~After story. If you want comedy that you can laugh to then try out seitokai yakuindomo.
Dat thread derail. So far, each person suggested at least one anime/manga that piqued my interest. Will Wikipedia the ones I haven't yet later tonight.
Nichijou is a really good comedy anime, especially with the randomness and overly exaggerated explosions. But for action, I'm watching Jormungand. Its about an arms dealer who illegally sells guns to any side of an ongoing war and her newest recruit whos an angry child soldier. Also re-watching both Fullmetal Alchemist : Brotherhood and Beet the Vandel Buster
@Demonlord: Why did I mention you? I was questioning whether you had a sudden change in attitude toward anime or if you're just a pathetic hypocrite
P.S. Have you found out the definition of a hypocrite yet? I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't
you sure as hell haven't.
@rabbithole: I know both of those facts C: My friend is crazy about it and wants me to read it XD But laziness strikes me everytime... But check the mangas out that I've been recommending! They are really awesome c: IMO that is XD
@UnFocusHero: my friends showed it to me without me knowing what it is. Cuz of them i watched the first 2 secs of the pain olympics they said it was about puppies
Eureka Seven Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee High school of The Dead Gundam SEED/Destiny Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Mobile Fighter G Gundam Yosuga no Sora (not for small children) Elfien Lied (if that's how it's spelled) Gundam Wing (and it's sequel)
Some mangas I haven't read yet but heard being great are; Girls' in the wild, Tower of God, Good Ending and The World God Only Knows.
Surprisingly, Tower of God is famous in Korea. Nexon Korea even did a comic involving Maplestory and Tower of God. And anime isn't a big presence in Korea.
Whilst being a Shoujo Ai manga, Girlfriends is really good. I highly recommend it c:
Sensei No Bulge is a good action manga So is Ansatsu Kyosh(ee)tsu. (Should be an i, instead of ee. Stupid filter thing ><
Nisekoi is probably one of the better on going romance mangas atm. Denpa Kyoshi is really interesting too C:
Some mangas I haven't read yet but heard being great are; Girls' in the wild, Tower of God, Good Ending and The World God Only Knows.
I am watching the anime version of TWGOK and so far, it's awesome c: And if you want to read one of the more mainstream ones, Naruto and Hitman Reborn are my calls. Especially Hitman Reborn. The later chapters (250 and onwards) are amazing.
@Vuxrian Never knew that existed. Will use it too, ty! @Demonlord I've Googled before as well. But recommendations through word of mouth can't hurt either right? @xShiraYuki If you think Mirai Nikki was twisted, Elfen Lied was more twisted imo. It's pretty much technology gone wrong and an A.I. robot murdering everything in its path using only her mind.
@portality Really? Lucky Star? I always heard bad rep about that anime because those .gif's always got overused. Now you got me curious.
No Suzan. Lucky star is the best <3 I don't think you'll like it though. It's kinda like Life of high school boys but it's more of daily life of an otaku girl & her friends
manga: Yotsubato Love so Life Gakuen Alice Fruit Basket Kodomo No Omocha Kimi ni Todoke Dengeki Daisy Usagi Drop Kaichou ha maid sama Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu

There's plenty of references out there, and they'll all give you better recommendations than people. Once you don't need those references, then asking people would be your best bet, but obviously you wouldn't need to ask on Basil by then.
Oh my. So many recommendations. Thank you everyone Bookmarking thread for reference. Still open for more.
@milkocha OMG I watched Elfen Lied years ago and couldn't remember the title until now! Thank you! I absolutely loved it
@xShirayuki Really? The concept of last man standing isn't anything new. Even Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" book is a similar concept.
Manga: Hayate no Gotoku, Kurenai no Ookami to Ashikase no Hitsuji (Fairly new), Kimi ni Todoke (Might as well watch the anime while you're at it), Denpa Kyoushi, Choku, D.Gray-man
Anime: Shakugan no Shana, Zero no Tsukaima, ToraDora, Air, Fate/ Stay Night and Zero, Shakugan no Shana, Toaru Majutsu no Index, Otome wa Boku ni Koishieru<<<There's a "t" after the second "I" (Found it pretty good even though it's considered a Shoujo Ai, which doesn't make sense since the girl is actually a guy that was forced to crossdress), Yumekui Merry, Darker Than Black, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, or maybe any of the newer animes that seem pretty good like SOA. Edit: May have given a few more action than any other, so: Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai, Sankarea, Kimi to Boku, Karin
school rumble durarara shakugan no shana death note toradora toaru majutsu no index kaicho wa maid sama accel world soul eater kokoro connect hayate no gotoku sword art online
i only really watch one piece. of course read the manga first. anime has some fillers and the recent episodes are being dragged on so much. but the anime still makes certain scenes more epic
